How many miles on your car? What make/model?

We have a 1997 Honda CRV that's just about ready to hit 100K miles. If I hadn't scraped the back drivers side (which I am sure will induce rust), it would look really good for her age. I am hoping to get a few more years out of her and then get a new CRV to have for the rest of our lives.

01 Town & Country 192,000 bought brand new and still going strong (knock on wood)
'04 Jeep Wrangler 68,000 Our weekend car - most of those miles are WAY OFF ROAD. :thumbsup2

We have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan that just rolled 140,000 and still going strong.

DH's Saturn just died during the summer, it was a 2000 and had over 150,000 miles on it, and those were hard, long, rough miles on it. It would have lasted longer if he hadn't driven it when the Serpintine belt broke.

2003 Subaru Forester, 107,000 miles.
DH drives a 2002 Subaru Outback with about 95,000 miles.

I have a 2000 Ford Focus with a little over 120,000 miles on it. I am actually planning on getting a new car this december if i can swing it with trying to save for my June trip.

2008 Mazda3 with roughly 36,200 miles
1999 Land Rover Discovery I with 162,000 miles

97 Chevrolet Cavalier- 4 cylinder, original motor and tranny. 248,000 miles and still going. Routine maintainance- CHANGE YOUR OIL REGULARLY:cheer2:.

My DH drove a 1999 Cavalier until 2009 and when we traded it in, it had 203,000 with original manual transmission and engine. It started to look pretty rough though, the paint was in bad shape.

It was a great car, sadly we outgrew it :(

2007 Durango - 81,000 miles (weekend ride)
2004 Neon - 72,000 miles
1994 Toyota Pickup - 252,000 miles and climbing

They're all in decent shape and paid for so they'll be driven for quite a few more years.

2004 Expedition 70,000 (just bought this one, it's our newest one)
1995 Toyota Camry 150,000 miles
1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT 130,000 miles
1993 Nissan Quest Van 230,000 miles this is my daily commuter vehicle, I saw one recently on Craig's list with 330,000 miles on it.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Montana van. Bought it new.
Consumers Report says its the worst vehicle made.
My experience, however, has been tremendous.
Have 563,000 km on it (349,000 miles)
Have replaced brakes and tires plus 1 front wheel bearing - and that's it!
Would have happily bought another one, but GM quit making it.
They lost a customer.
I'll be replacing this with a Dodge.

I was wondering if I would come across another Montana with some heavy miles on it! Ours is a 1998 Transport/Montana (transition year) and it has 252,000 miles on it. Have not replaced anything ultra-major yet. We are missing one of the middle seats due do a mouse climbing up inside one and dying . Yuckko! We couldn't find the dang thing and so we said "seat, begone!!!" or something that contained a great deal of bleeping. The engine is sounding really loud (not a happy sound..) now so we are not sure how much longer it will last, but it has been a great van!

Hubby has a VW Beetle TDI (2001 I think) but I'm not sure of his mileage.

We really don't want to spend as much on our next car (would like to be able to save up for as much of the total as possible) so I think that takes that Chevy Traverse I was eyeballing out of the running... :( We are considering the Nissan Cube (I know, it's not pretty...) because it is very well priced and my husband (who is 6'8) can actually fit into it. You would be surprised how that really cuts down on the options!

If anyone has an opinion on a new car for a family of four (with two boys that are going to be big like daddy...) or has any experience with the Cube or Traverse, I would love to hear about it! :thumbsup2

08 PT Cruiser 35,000 (my car)
08 Chrysler Sebring 54,000 (dh car)
05 Jeep Liberty 79,000 (ds car who is in college)
03 Pontiac Sunfire 125,000 (ds car who is also in college)

We have no car payments. We hope to replace the Sebring in a couple of years, give that to ds to replace the Sunfire. We will pay cash. We don't finance cars:) Both of the 08's were purchased in 09 with low mileage.

We have a 2008 GMC Acadia (same exact car as the Traverse, just a different brand name) with 50,000 miles on it since we bought it brand new in late 2008. It runs fine with no major issues so far; the only complaint I have is the transmission is slow to downshift and upshift, especially when getting on the freeway. You do get used to it, but it's weird for the first few months (or years...)

Our Acadia is fully loaded with everything but navigation. The $100 TomTom was a better option than spending ~$2,000 on a built in system since we would barely use it.

The third row seat is phenomenal for a family with small kids, or even adults. We used to have a GMC Yukon and the third row seat was pretty much useless for anyone over 5 ft.; the way it was designed, you ended up sitting with your knees in your face. The Acadia/Traverse also has a fold flat third row which is great if you don't need to use it all the time and want the storage space.

We looked at the Acura MDX, BMW X5, and Lexus RX350, and found the Acadia to be the most family friendly. The Lexus doesn't even have a third row, and the Acura and BMW had unbelievably small ones.

I personally drive a 2010 VW Jetta bought new in August of last year. It has 13,000 miles and drives great! Mine is loaded with vinyl seats (they look and feel like leather without the hassle of maintenance) automatic transmission with sport mode and can also shift to manual, sunroof, Bluetooth, alloy wheels, and splash guards. I got it for $20,000. It's a great vehicle and I plan on driving it until something major goes wrong (knock on wood) or the wheels fall off, whatever comes first...

I really like the VW Tiguan. It's a small SUV without a third row, but has great Volkswagen quality and amenities. New costs a pretty penny, but used ones can be had at a great price. If all goes well with my Jetta, I'm going to look at them when the time rolls around for a new car.

We also have a 2006 BMW 5-series, bought brand new off the ship from Germany in 2005. It has 70,000 highway miles and drives great, but is SUCH a pain to maintain. Parts have to be ordered from Germany and are shipped over here SO slow. The routine maintenance costs are insane, and to be honest, it's not the best quality car. The seats are uncomfortable, and they don't go down enough to accommodate my 6'1" frame, so needless to say, I barely drive it... :(

We're looking at replacing it within the next year with an Audi S4, Mercedes C63, Cadillac CTS V, or BMW M3. I better be able to fit in the M3... :scared1:

Thanks a bunch for all of that great information! I will take a close look at that Acadia. :3dglasses

Hubby loves his VW (especially since he gets 40+ mpg). Only problem is that he keeps having to get the brakes worked on a LOT. We have been wondering if it is because our local shop doesn't know enough about VW's to do it right?

2002 Honda CRV....163,000 mi.

The body and interior are still in GREAT shape, even after 9 years and 2 kids! I have one small mark on the drivers door where someone threw a 2x4 into me on the highway. I've replaced the normal things...tires, oil, belts, batteries, brakes etc....and JUST did the alternator (which I found out didn't really need it). It's been a great car.

2002 Ford Focus SE (got it with about 10k miles) she now has 86k.

I make sure I do all the normal, routine maintenance (i.e. replace tires, oil and filter, misc manufacturers routine maintenance). The only thing I've had "break" is the CD player died last summer, and I'm too cheap to replace it since the radio works fine still. Other than that I've had no problems that were involved with the mechanics of the vehicle (someone hit it while parked in a parking lot, but I don't count that as an issue with the car)

She still has the original, factory rear breaks. This has boggled everyone who has worked on my car. I usually get something along the lines of "you really take care of your car."

I think the moral is as long as you take care of it (unless you get an utter lemon), it will take care of you no matter what the make.

1998 Ford Explorer.I am the original owner...just turned over to 130K miles last week. Still runs great.I do the regular maintenace(use high mileage synthetic oil) have replaced frot brakes twice and front rotors once, rear brakes are still original..I need tires si will do that soon...am scared that something major will fail and dont have the money to fix it..

Well, I had a 2005 VUE Redline edition with 120K miles on it at the beginning of last year, but then it started having problems; we took it in and repairs would be more than what she was worth.

NOT in the plans, which were to keep her for 10 years and pay cash for something new at the end of it.

So we sucked it up, looked at our options and I bought a new little Mustang convertible. (This was major expense #1 of our year). Got it financed thru the Credit Union at 1.99% interest (So yeah, I financed it so I'd still have my tidy savings; I'm willing to pay 2% interest to keep my savings account happy.).

Anyway, I love my little car. Hoping to get many, many, many miles out of her. I could've just gone out and purchased an old Jeep Cherokee; I've owned 3 of them and we know how to do all our own work, butttt. . .yeah. I love my little car. Totally worth the expense!
