How many miles do you walk each day in Disney?

I start with early extra magic hours and end with late extra magic hours. I park hop like it's going out of style. I average 13-20 miles a day. No wonder my feet and back hurt so bad when I'm there

I didn't have a tracker on our last trip and I'm so glad I will on our next. I'm dying to see how far we walk.

I did track when we went to Hershey Park last summer and we walked 8.5 miles.

11-14, but I walk between the Swolphin and Epcot probably twice a day, seriously, and always choice walking when its a transport option. I often get to MK via Uber to the CR and then walk, that kind of thing. I also spend a lot of time strolling around the boardwalk every night of my trips. My highest day was 19 miles, it was a bachelorette party and we went from 8 until 2am; we went back to the hotel to get refreshed and dolled up, and shut down every park, etc. until Atlantic Dance hall closed.

We do 8-13 miles a day as well. Having a more relaxed approach for a three day trip in May.

I was wearing my fitbit last year and it totally depends on which park you are in. Animal Kingdom was the most steps for us, while Hollywood Studios was the least. We struggled to get our 10000 steps on HS day.

We averaged 10.6 miles per day last week. Lowest 8.32 - highest 14.6. We also never ride when we can walk. I wish we did this much at home!

It was around seven miles per day during my last trip. I take a midday break and normally don't spend more than eight or nine hours each day at the parks. Also, on my last trip my room was just steps away from the lobby, so I didn't have to walk a half mile to and from my room like I usually do!

Wow everyone, thanks for all the replies!!

I am using touring plans this year so I'm hoping I can be a bit more efficient. I agree that it doesn't seem like as much walking as it really is, but by the end of my trip my legs and feet hurt so badly so I'm hoping I can do a bit less walking this year!

From our trip in Jan/Feb 2017
Jan 26 AK - 18308 steps 9.15mi (rope drop to 4pm)
Jan 27 DHS - 21118 steps 10.56mi (10am to 8pm
Jan 28 MK - 21173 steps 10.59mi (rope drop to 6pm)
Jan 29 Epcot - 20078 10.04mi (2-10pm - late start due to rain in the morning, could have been higher...maybe)

For comparison, here's our next few "relaxing" days on our cruise:
Jan 30 sail day - 11524 steps 5.76mi (a few trips to the pool, bar, buffet etc)
Jan 31 Nassau - 22869 steps 11.43mi (Paradise island tour and walk on the beach)
March 1 Freeport - 19731 steps 9.87mi (straw market and beach walk)
March 2 Great Stirup Cay - 13248 steps 6.62mi (found a nice spot on the beach and enjoyed some adult bevies)
March 3 Arrive back in Miami - 19837 steps 9.92mi (spent the morning at South Beach before our flight home)

I thought we had done plenty of walking in WDW (10+ miles/day) but was really surprised when we realized how much walking we had actually done on the "relaxing" portion of our trip (similar or more than at WDW).

I usually drag my fat rear around 10-12 miles on an average day at WDW.

On our last trip, I walked about 18,000 steps (~7 miles) on my longest day (7am - 5pm) and that included pushing 80 lbs of kids in a double stroller. I'm only 5' tall, so it takes me more steps to make a mile than many people. I was walking 20,500 steps (8 miles) last fall for fitness, currently walking 15,500-18,000 steps (6-7) miles a day. It should be a breeze without a stroller for my trip in 2 weeks.

Hi everyone!

I'm starting a walking regimine for my upcoming trip and went back to view my activity data taken from my Apple Watch on my last trip to see how much I walked... anywhere from 8-13 miles each day! :tiptoe:

To be fair we were total park warriors and we ended up zig zagging a lot. I'm trying to be more methodical with my plans this year.

So this had me thinking, does anyone else have data for how much you walk at Disney?

8-11 miles. Dh & I are both active seniors so the walking is not so hard to do. It's being out in the heat and humidity for all those hours that are the hardest. We no longer go during summer months for that reason.

We tend to do 25k to 35k steps per day. However, our trips have mostly been long weekends (other than one week-long visit to Disneyland last year with 5 park days). We tend to open parks and close parks, hop at least once, and other than the time spend hopping, not take breaks. This September, we'll be going for a week-long trip for the first time. I expect most days our step count will be lower than our normal, since I just don't think we can go open to close every day when there for 8 days like we do when we are only there for 3.

I will say this...my wife found that the People Mover, Buzz Lightyear, Pirates and other similar speed rides all counted as steps and miles on her Fitbit. Kind of inflated her distance. Has anybody else noticed this? I'm surprised it didn't send a "congratulations for jogging on vacation" message after riding the people mover...

I have worn a Garmin Vivofit for my park step counting the last couple of years. If anything, I find that it undercounts steps. The way it counts, you really do have to be walking swinging arms. It won't even count when you are walking with your vivofit hand in a pocket. Definitely did not give me credit for steps while on rides. My next trip, I'll be wearing an Apple Watch and it will be interesting to see how it compares with the vivofit as far as step counting for the day.

We use just a regular pedometer and it averages around 7-10 miles/day.
