Ok so last week I got our AP magic bands with the AP sliders. Today I got the Magic bands linked to our 6/27 check in at SSR. We are spending our last night of vacation at AKV and looks like those magic bands are ready to ship. Is it normal to have all these bands?

Yes, it is normal.

And as long as all bands are left active on your My Disney Experience account, they can be used interchangeably. Many people specifically order different colors to have a variety available.

Yeah, I have bands from last summer, another set from December (although we used the same ones from the summer in December). We got a new set with the AP slider a month ago, and we have a split stay in July coming up and they are sending another 2 sets....one for each reservation at the BLT and BCV. So we will have 5 sets of Magic bands over the course of a year. I'm deactivating the original ones and letting my niece and nephew have them. They think they are cool.....and December I got the same colors as last summer. So now we will each have 4 bands of different colors in my household for this summers trip. I can't believe anyone would PAY $13 at downdown disney for another color when they are sending out so many!

The stand-alone sales are targeted at off-site guests who do not receive complimentary MagicBands.

Although I could see some resort guests buying a second color. Most people do not schedule split stays or visit with the same frequency as a DVC owner or pass holder.

I have friends that stay off-site and are not annual pass holders, so I listed them on one of my room reservations so they don't have to purchase MagicBands. The bands appear on their own MDE account(s) since we are connected via the Family & Friends list. I saved them around $40.

From multiple stays and the AP band, I have one of each color except pink, not sure if I can pull that one off though.

We visited EPCOT a couple of weeks ago (just as a day guest,) and I mentioned to the CM at the entrance that I was "unsure which band to use, as we had been sent so many." His response was, "Yes - you can have a different one for every day of the week." :)

His response was swift, so I think he's been hearing many guests comment on the "multiple bands" issue.

Have now done three trips with Magic Bands and now have four sets, the three trips plus the AP set with slider. I am kind of in the camp that is now wondering how do I get them to stop sending the darn things because I don't need any more while all of these are working. I know many like getting more and more but I find it unnecessary and MDE should have an option allowing us to avoid new ones for a trip being sent.

I have 10 MBs. One of each color plus extras of red, green and yellow. From now on I plan to skip the personalization process and refuse the generic gray bands at check in. That way they can be used for someone else. Unless they add purple. If they add purple to the choices I will customize one more set.

We're at 3 sets right now (2 from our split stay - each set with the DVC member slider and same colors so there wouldn't be confusion with my mom's band since she was in our room but different card attached) and after we got home, our APs that were activated on day 1 of our trip, got personalized and the 3rd set with pass holder slider sent - this time 2 of us picked different colors (the 8yo was set that he had to have ANOTHER blue).

We currently have 3 sets of magic bands and have another set scheduled to be sent for our Dec. trip. My stepdaughter and her family are going to the World in Nov. but will be staying offsite. They have already purchased their tickets but will not have Magic Bands. They are considering buy Magic Bands when they arrive and having their ticket linked at the store. If we deactivate some of our used Magic Bands could she use these deactivated bands and have them linked to their tickets without causing any problem with our My Disney Experience profile?
Thanks for any thoughts.

If you don't customize the MagicBands that are offered for a resort stay, they will have uncustomized ones at the resort. You can refuse the uncustomized MagicBands and they will recycle them.

We are stay t OKW two nights before VB and a cruise and one night after cruise. I just went online and they had two different sets for both stays at OKW.
I think it kind if wasteful....but it probably easier for them.:)

For what it is worth...we were told by Front Desk AKV folks that ALL Magic Bands can be recycled now. If you don't want to build up a whole collection at home just turn them in for the recycle program,

Also was advised the batteries only last about 2 years and then they are no good anyways...FWIW!

I'm up to seven bands with numbers eight and nine on the way, I just wish there was a way to MAKE IT STOP

There is. Don't personalize your bands. When you get to your resort they will offer you non-personalized gray bands. These bands will not be linked to your account unless you accept them. Simply refuse them and they will be used for another guest.
