How many hours do you work in a week on average?

My schedule is 3 days a week, 16 hour shifts (3p to 7:30a) so I'm scheduled at 48 hours. I do sometimes pick up extra usually that would only be an 8 hour shift. Plus I never can get out of that place on time so it would be on average anywhere from 48 to 60 hours. A year or so ago it was 70+ so this is better.

If you don't mind me asking, what industry is the position? Medical, business, customer service...? I thought a person can only work a max of 50 hours per week?

I don’t think there is any limit to the number of hours one can work in a week.

My dad usually had two full time and one part time job at the same time. He worked on average 100 hours a week.

The only time I saw him as a kid was him sleeping.

I meant within a single position.

I'm currently a student so this would be hard to calculate. I intern for two days a week, 16 hours, I have two classes, 5 hours, I have to study 20'sh hours, plus I have an independent study 8'sh hours. That's 49. This semester I'm commuting each week to school so that is another 13 hours for 62 hours.

Prior to retiring in 2015 after 30 years in the Civilian Nuclear Power Industry as a Senior Reactor Operator, I was subject to the NRC's 10CFR26.205 Work Hour Rules. A very complicated set of conditions which we had extensive spreadsheets to manage. I always tried to max out my hours (~ 54 a week, but with turnover time not included worked out to ~ 65 hrs). The overtime helped pad my retirement fund so I could retire at 57.

Now I enjoy doing no work and chilling a lot. Being a Seenager is tough.

I'm on campus for about 40 hours a week, but if there isn't enough time to get the work done, I end up grading at home at night and on the weekends. I'd guess I work about 50 hours a week.

Depending on how you count it, either zero or 168 hours a week. I'm a SAHM. I'm always at least planning and keeping track of everything in my head. Even on vacation, I am "working" unless I'm on a solo trip. Although I'm still "on call" at that point.

Although now that boys are older teens, I do have a lot more down time to do whatever I want. It's nice.

About thirty hours. Fourteen of those hours are on campus teaching and holding office hours or supervising student teachers in an elementary school. I have a monthly staff meeting. The other hours are at home grading and planning.

I love my schedule. I have 3 months in the summer, six weeks between mid-December and January, and spring break off. This semester I also have Thanksgiving week off based on the days my classes fall on.
