Are you getting car rentals ? I would think we wouldn't need to with DME being in operation. I am just curious as to what most are doing. I got a rental last trip and it went smooth. But why spend the extra if I really don't need to. I do like having one to get back to the airport.

What have you all been doing ???

Anyone renting part of the time instead?

Thanks

HI I have done a few options, one time we just used disney transportation and mears to go on a few trips, everything was fine, another time we had a car for a week and used on site transportation for the other week, we kind of wished we still had the car for more dining choices, this time we are having the car for the duration, however i have heard now that if you are staying onsite there is complimentary bus transfers from the airport to disney ? not sure if you have to book through disney . Have a wonderful time.

Yes that is what I am questioning DME Disney Magical Express is free!!!

We usually either rent a car or take a towncar service. We just returned from a long weekend at WDW. We booked the ME service. We arrived in ORlando at 1:15pm and didn't arrive at our resort until 3:30pm. The bus driver got lost. :confused3

It was frustrating. We decided to take the towncar service back to the airport. We will be renting a car for our October trip. I know it's a free service but when it starts cutting into my vacation time or there's a chance we won't get to the airport in time to make the flight, I'd rather pay the money.

We are using DME upon arrival, but will rent a car on day 4 of our 10 day stay. We plan to return the car to the airport ourselves, but picking the car up at the Disney Car Center. We figured DME will save us $$ - about the cost of a dinner.

I'm splitting the differance, I'm not renting a car, but I'm not taking ME either. I'm taking a towncar. Cheaper than a rental, but more money than the free ME. The odds of us needing transportation while in WDW is slim, and we can always take a cab. If we go to Universal (unlikely but possible) we can call Mears and they can take us pretty cheap. We'd still be under the cost of a rental.

I'd only rent a car if I were staying off site, myself.
