Hi everyone! I'm from Rochester Hills, in the metro Detroit area. We are going to WDW Nov 4-9 for 5 days of fun! :cool1: The kids have the 8th off school for election day, and I'm pulling them out for two. :rolleyes1 Last year we went at around the same time and it was SO nice, the weather, the lack of crowds.

Auburn Hills checking in here! We'll be at POFQ December 1st-11th. Just got beck from school shopping at Somerset.

Hello All! We're currently from Okemos, and have also lived in Farmington Hills and Ann Arbor over the last 10 years. :wave2:

Our next trip is scheduled for April/May 2007. First trip with the little ones! Is it too early to start planning? :goodvibes

It's NEVER too early to start planning!

Oh come on.... You didn't need my permission. You've already started planning! Fess up ;)

Hey, I know this is off topic...but can anyone tell me what state park campgrounds are best in MI...we are considering a fall camping trip (tent) and we've got a state park sticker. We did the UP earlier this summer, so I'm mostly interested in the LP. We enjoy checking out nearby towns, historical sites, etc. and I appreciate clean, modern facilities...Any favorites? TIA! :flower:

My favorite is Ludington. Beach, hiking trails, light house. Love it.
If you're a beach only lover, Grand Haven is great, but to me it's just sand and a parking lot. Right on Lake MI, though.
Hoffmaster (Muskegon) is nice. A little more secluded, wooded lost. Hike over dune to beach.
Manistee was nice. RIght on teh bluff overlooking Lake MI. Not secluded enough for me. Facilities were not my fave.
Petosky was also nice, but a little further to drive. That area has great shopping, though.
May people like Brighton, but I'd rather be near the big lake. They have horse back riding and beautiful trails, though.
I'd go Hoffmaster or Ludington. Can you tell which side of the state I live on?

I have to agree.

We just got back from Burt lake, it was nice, but just south of the UP.

A fee years ago we went to one in Monroe, it was a bit like camping on a big parking lot next to the water, (over looking the nucluar tower) but it had a great beach and playground, the bathrooms were nice too.

Burt Lake? My ILs spend ~3-4 weeks there every year. We get up tehre for a weekend in that time. It is nice, but not my favorite.

Hey Everyone!

Hi DisneyPHD....it's been awhile since we talked!

I'm Michigan all the way! I grew up in Roseville, my husband grew up in Royal Oak. We met while we both worked for Dick Purtan...now hubby's a stay-at-home dad :cheer2: (and a good one too!)

Our roots stretch all the way up to Munising in the U.P. and into the Thumb (Ubly and Bad Axe) My brother (who is Kid Rock's fabulous Keyboard player ;) ) has been researching our family tree and coming up with all kinds of info!

we summer in Pentwater...and fabulous little town on Lake Michigan (they call it the Nantucket of the midwest.)

We're DVCers and will be spending Thanksgiving at BCV with 12 family members this year. Can't wait!

It's good to have "close" friends on the boards!

Deb

OK, OK, I admit it! You found me out...I guess the fact that I'm ON this site was your first clue? :) Actually, I visit this site even when I don't have a trip to WDW in the works!
