How many FP+ do you actually book?

First time coming to Disney in October with our kids, DS9 and DD5. I've planned out our parks and have booked our ADRs (one per day)...plus have the BBB booked on one of our MK days. I can see the FP+ being really good to avoid the line ups, but on the flip side, if I book 3 per day per person (DS and DD will not necessarily be the same FP), then it will feel like our entire holiday will be on a schedule.

So I'm wondering how many fast pass you all book beforehand (and the corresponding time of year i.e. if busy or not)? I'm thinking of only booking the really busy ones (e.g. Seven Dwarfs, Meet Anna and Elsa, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Soarin, Toy Story Mania), etc - and not all on the same day (i.e. we will be going to MK 2 days + MNSSHP + a few hours on arrival day). Or is that a waste of time since we'll be standing in long lines?

PS - And if you book all 3 for the day, how much do you spread them out?

I booked 3 for each day but only ended up using 2 each day for our May trip. We would have used 3 our first MK day but the app screwed me up and I lost Peter Pan due to misreading AM vs PM and it moved my pass to the next day and wouldn't let me change times....

The system is set up so that you book three at a time for one park per day. In other words you can't schedule just one in one park in the morning and then another in the evening at a different park. You can however scatter them thru the day at the same park if you want.

We are going in the insanity that is the end of June and have booked three each day we are going to the park.

After your initial three are used or expired you can go to a kiosk to get an additional FP. This FP can be in a Different park than your original three. There is no penalty for not showing for a FP. So if you book the three intending to only use one that can be doable.

You can only book 3, so we book 3 and use them all. Under the old system, we used 5 - 6 FPs a day, depending on when we got to the park and the park hours.

Thank you for the replies. I wasn't sure what happened if you booked a FP but didn't end up using it (e.g. for ADR, there is a cancellation fee).

For those that booked more than one, did you spread them out, or have them back to back? And did you tend to use them in the morning, afternoon, both?

We typically don't book until day of for the scheduling issues you mentioned. When I do book the. I usually start in late morning and book them consecutively from there. With the new 4th fast pass this will enable you to start getting them in mid afternoon.

Good advice. Thanks.
I supose too if you go early enough then you may not need to use FP at that point.
