or whatever they renamed it to....and are you a couple using it or a family?? We did this with our first set of PAP's and I plan to get it again this month when we get our AP's. Can you use this card on the alcohol portion of the bill if you are on the dining plan?? How does that work?

Usually there are only two adults in our party, and we use the DDE/TIW. Iif you go to WDW frequently, or have a couple of extended trips during the year, the DDE/TIW can work for a small party. Yes, you can still use it on adult beverages, and nything else that may not be covered by your DDP. However, remember that you have to spend at least $300 in discounted dining before the value of the TIW actually kicks in, since you need to pay $60 for the card.

We have, but not always.

We bought it back in 2007 when traveling with a group of 8. That card was good for 2 or 3 trips.

But we did not buy the card for our trip in 2008. We only had one WDW vacation in 12 months that time, and our party was only 5 or 6 people (including two children.) For the number of TS meals we ate, we would have been lucky to break even on the card purchase.

We have never bought the Dining Plan, but our purchase of DDE/TIW depends on whether or not it will save us money. If it doesn't, we just pay full price or try to visit restaurants on the DVC/AP discount list.

Well we got our money's worth the last time because we went to WDW 4 times but this time we are going for 6 nights in Jan. and 9 nights in July....not sure if we will make another trip after that. I have to think about this I guess.

At worst, I'd think you'd break even with the TIW for those two trips. You would probably save a little $ using it. We usually spend about 15 to 20 nights annually at WDW, and we do see a savings with the TIW, even though we don't have adult beverages often.

We have it, and have already broke even with it. We use it for a quick drink or snack when we don't want to use the DDP. We aslso use it when we take shorter trips and don't purchase the DDP

We have the Tables in Wonderland card, and for us it is definitely worth it. There are only 2 of us, but we typically eat at mostly table service restaurants during our trips. The card easily pays for itself every year, and we net a pretty decent savings too.

You can use it on the alcohol portion of your bill that is not included on the dining plan, but it would take quite some time to spend $300 in alcohol alone (the $300 point is the break even point on the $60 Tables in Wonderland membership fee).

I have it - broke even last time - probably won't this time.

more solo trips than bring people.

get it more for the free valet parking....:thumbsup2

Not to hijack the thread but if you need to spend $300 to make back the initial $60 investment, I would have thought a family of 5-6 would only need to have 2 T.S. meals somewhere. Have you seen those prices

My husband might have a beer with his dinner but not every time. We do tend to do ONE TS most days too. I am hoping to squeeze in a short trip in Oct. or Jan. before our AP's expire. hmmmmm I bet I will just get the card. :rotfl2:

We have it and love it! Family of 4, DH & I, DD15, DS11. Used it on 2 trips in 07, renewed and used it for 2 trips in 08 and could possibly get one more trip out of it.

We're a family that doesn't usually like to do the DDP (we don't really like CS all that much and the few that we do, take the TiW).
Another reason that we prefer TiW over DDP is that we spend about the same amount after the TiW discount and we're not locked into anything--really good when DD gets a stomach bug & DH comes down with strep throat :rolleyes1
Last reason, DS11 is a "Disney Adult" that mostly prefers to eat like a child (unless it's filet mignon & creme brulee at LeCellier :lmao: ) It's much better for us to use the TiW than pay for him as an adult when he's gonna order a kids pizza.

Even though we prefer not to use the DDP, we did on one of the 07 trips and used our DDE/TiW card for the extras and for DS. We paid OOP for him to order kids meals and got our TiW discount on his meals :thumbsup2

This is our first time having the DDE/TIW card. We'll be in WDW next weekend for a week (:cool1: ). We are a party of 5, I put us on the DDP (basic) as well. We have TS every day, for at least one meal. We made reservations for Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner one night for the 5 of us, I was planning on just using the DDE/TIW card for that meal, and NOT using it as 2 TS credits on the DDP. I figure this meal alone will make up the cost of the card.

But I do have a question.....if we are at a TS meal using the DDP, and I order alcoholic drinks, can we put the meal on the DDP, and use the TIW card towards a discount on alcohol? That would be great!

TIA

Yes. You can use the TiW card for anything not covered by the DDP.

Yes you can use the TiW for the alcohol portion of your DDP meals. You'll get a seperate bill for your drinks/items not covered on the DDP.

As for Yachtsman, you'll break even on that meal alone ;) We did the same thing with Hollywood Brown Derby when we used the DDP. Paid OOP and used TiW. It was a much better deal/value than using 2 credits :thumbsup2

I plan on purhasing the Tables in Wonderland card in just 2 weeks (:cool1: - sorry for th happy dance break) The only time we will use it on this trip is on DS' birthday dinner at Garden Grill. We plan on making the most of it in June. After a couple trips to Boma with a party of 6 (4 adults) and a few other TS meals, we should more than recoup the $60 cost.

I have TiW and love it. DH is a foodie and we typically go to the high-end TS on our trip. This Jan we have ADRs at Yachtman's Steakhouse, Victoria and Albert (not Chef's table), Narcossee's, Le Cellier, Wolfgang Puck's, Artist Point, Chefs de France, 50s Prime Time Cafe, and Hollywood Brown Derby. We love our appetizers (not included on DDP) and will probably order a bottle of wine each evening. This card saves us a bundle.

One of the best differences between this card and DDP is that it is valid for a year, not just one trip, so even taking one trip a year, with careful planning (June 08 and May 09) you can get two trips out of it.

We have used this card on our last 3 trips...saves us a lot and it has included liquor so far.
We had 6 in our party this last trip and we averaged more than $20 off every meal.
it really adds up and we the cool thing is that we pay for 1 yr and get to use it on 2 trips...just like AP's.

its really a good deal if you do sit down meals a lot like we do;)

We have used the card for the last three years and save a good bit every year with just two non-drinkers using it. We do tend to avoid counter service in most of the parks, though.
A few nice Disney meals will put you over the top. This January there will be six of us. One dinner and we should break even on that trip!

If you're referring to my post, I would say it depends upon the eating habits of your party, locations you dine at and the MEALS you eat sit-down.

Dinner entrees seem to average about $20 per adult for the places we dine (Mama Melrose, Plaza Restaurant, 50s Prime Time, etc.) With the moderately-priced kids meals, our tab is usually around $80 for 3a/2c at dinnertime. Lunch entrees are even cheaper--around $15 per adult average. Breakfast varies but can be under $15 per adult total.

And then we factor in locations where our APs or DVC get us a discount. We've frequently used the 10% discount at the ESPN Club (which is already a cheap location.) And we have also recently used the 10% at Chef de France. TIW does get you a larger discount at those locations (20%), but it wouldn't be fair to count that all toward your "savings" since 10% would come off without spending $60 on the TIW.

Thanks to the need to book ADRs months in advance, we know where we are going to eat and can buy (or not buy) the TIW card depending upon which approach works better. We skip it if the savings appear to be questionable. I'm not going to go to the hassle of using TIW for $10 or less in savings. Especially when you consider one missed meal (forget to show card, leave it in the room, etc.) results in a loss.

We got it for our first year. As a family of only 3 ppl who does not do TS every day it took 2 trips to break even (one trip for a week and one for 4 n). I am still waiting for DS11 to stop ordering off the kids menu!!!:rolleyes1 We finally got ahead on it on our 3rd trip, but it was only for 3 n so we only used it at Jiko and Boma & for lunch at a CS place in AK. It was nice to have, but I wish more CS places took it. Other than using it at Boma we get the best bang with it at the AK park since you can use it for CS. We always go there early (EMH's etc) and stay thru lunch so we can use it for CS meals. DH likes his beer with his meals so that's a definite plus. And I like to order a couple or so cocktails at a TS restaurant.... But I felt like we really had to plan and "work at it" to recover our $60. We don't like being tied to ADR's so much. DH and DS would rather just be wherever whenever, plus we can't afford a TS meal every single day. Not sure if we will get it again for just the 3 of us unless we have several trips planned or unless we'll be having guests with us on one trip. One nice dinner for 6 ppl at Boma would pay for it.
