How many DVC folks are getting the special priced PAP? Do most of you buy AP's?

I am trying to decide on whether or not to get AP's IF we do decided to take a trip this Aug. or Nov. The PAP is only 20 bucks more so that is a pretty easy decision and it would work for us for when we travel. We currently have AP's that expire in March and we did get 2 trips out of them. We can also get the special discounted SALUTE military tickets too. Did the regular AP's just go up on Sunday too???

Disney increased ticket prices yesterday (2/23/2014). Now the Promo for a DVC PAP is $1 less than the price of a new DVC AP.

Member Pricing effective 2/23/2014:
DVC AP:
New $485 plus tax ($21 increase)
Renewal $409 plus tax ($15 increase)

DVC PAP:
New $605 plus tax ($21 increase)
Renewal $509 plus tax ($15 increase)
PROMO until 4/30 $484 plus tax (must activate by 1/31/2015)

We will most likely renew our APs at the FL Resident Price (same as DVC pricing, except for the PAP Promo) and continue with the monthly payments.

Oh how I wish we could get the monthtly payment plan too. :(

We always buy DVC APs and get at least 2 trips out of them. I would love to try the PAPs, but I don't think we would do more than 1 WP visit per trip ....and that probably wouldn't be as relaxing/refreshing as our resort pool. We would do DQ maybe once per trip....but honestly, not looking for more video games in our life!!

So, I think we will take the regular AP renewal rate.

With the new ticket price increase, the PAP is $1 less than the regular. So doing the PAP over an AP is an easy choice. Even if you don't use the other options, you are still ahead.

I'll buy for my dh because his pass expires in October. But my pass doesn't expire until jan and we don't plan to go in January 2015. So I'll b getting a new reg pass in May 2015. The timing of this promotion doesn't fit us this time.

We have had APs or PAPs for about 6 years now, ever since DVC began discounting them.

We always did a PAP when admission was charged at Pleasure Island, and kept getting them when there was a difference in the merchandise discounts between the AP and PAP. If it weren't for this promotion, however, we would have gone with just the AP. We do water parks on occassion, but not enough for it to be the only reason to justify the extra expense of the PAP. We don't play golf and don't like DisneyQuest.

I bought two PAP yesterday, for our trip in Oct 2014, we will go again in 2015 sometime between June-Oct to maximize.

The price increase on 2/23/14 was factor in my decision to buy.

We usually get PAPs, but unless DVC gets us a great discount like the $399 one, we won't be getting them. I only have one short trip in the next twelve months, so I bought tickets from Undercover Tourist before they ran out of the old priced tickets. We also have three APs that I still can activate when we have more trips or longer trips planned in twelve months.

But after that? We might be selling two more of our contracts.

We like F&W, but we're not going this year.

I don't know how the average guest can afford Disney any more.

It is funny you say that.....I was just thinking that today. I am seriously thinking we will go every other year or at least 18 months between. It won't be long before we are priced out.

We used to go two times a year...or even three. :dance3: If you look at my signature you will see...but MAN....everything is so expensive anymore.

We did sell off a 100 pt. contract at AKV and bought two resale contracts at WL a couple of years ago :cloud9:. Last year we sold off 2 of our 3 SSR 100 pt. contracts. So we are down to 250 points. The dues for that many points was just too much with two kids in college. :teacher: That is why I am seriously thinking we might just go in Aug. and then skip the next year and just get the military tickets for Aug. this year. :confused3

We never got the AP, but with ticket prices being so high I might get them.
I'm just not sure if my family wants to go to WDW two years in a row.
I'm really thinking of getting Y.E.S. Tickets for this year and doing a cruise for 2015. The biggest problem with Y.E.S. Tickets they only have classes to the end of Oct. So that means no Disney Christmas stuff :sad2:

We are buying them for DH and I at least. We are going with our 16 year old son in June. We had planned to go back next April for spring break. But now my son is going to take Spanish IV and wants to take the biannual Spain trip, so spring would just be DH and I (a first!)
The other wrinkle is my college daughter is applying for CP this fall. I'm sure we will want to visit for. 3 or 4 day weekend, which is my max while teaching.
Either way we do better with those passes, especially since we will do TL with our son in June.

Our dd did the CP Jan through May of 2012. We went a few days before she checked in early Jan. Then we already had a dvc trip planned the end of Jan. LOL THEN... we went back in March for spring break but rented a house out in Windsor Hills. THEN.... we went back in late May right before she was finishing the CP..... to do Star Wars Weekend. :cool1: THEN THEN THEN... my youngest son and I went in July too... for 8 days that same year. My husband was on a 2 week business trip, our dd took a summer class and our son that had just graduated was away for the week at a Steel Drum summer Festival. We had AP's that year!!

We will be buying 3 of the special priced PAP tickets. We have a 3-night 2-park-day stay before our cruise at Spring Break. DS7's current PAP expires on the day we leave for the cruise, but DW and I don't have any active tickets. We bought 3 DVC-AP's last summer before the June price hike and were planning on using 2 of those. Now, we plan to get two of the discounted PAP's when we get there in April for us to use. I will also buy one for DS7, as we have an 8 night stay in July, when I will activate his ticket. We are also planning an 8 night stay in December and DW and I may sneak in 4-5 days in October for a professional meeting.

We will just save those AP's we bought last summer for next year, unless another PAP offer comes along.

never had AP before--usually use NE tickets and "ration" 1-2 days per trip. But, we are getting PAP this year, using 2 days @ Easter, 4 days June summer trip (just b/c we have PAP), then week-long Aug. summer trip, and maybe next Spring break. This will be our WDW crazy year--then detox the next year--LOL! Elaine

We bought the discounted PAP last year and only ended up going to the water parks once, but we'll get the discounted PAP again this year. Without the discounted rate toughh we would just be getting the AP.

If you buy the PAP, when you renew next year can you renew for just the regular AP at the renew price?

We bought the AP last April and used it for 8 days. We are getting another 8 days in early April of this year but do not plan on renewing.

I'd like to be able to use the PAP but even though we will be there again in October, we are not planning another stay within a year. We might not even go to the parks in October! We are staying at SSR for one night, doing a Disney Cruise and staying at BWV for six more nights..

We are planning on Aulani in the spring of 2015 and that will use most of our points.
