How many DVC Add-On Buyers say “If I get this next Contract, I’ll sell an existing Contract to pay for it?

Who's Said: If I get this one, I’ll sell another Contract (or Rent the Extra Points) to pay for it?

  • I Never said that.

  • I said that, but then kept both Contracts and all the Points.

  • I said that, and actually sold one of my existing Contracts, or rented out the extra points.

  • I’m confused, but wanted to participate in the Survey.

Those words have recently come out of my mouth but no action so far. We have a small SSR contract in its own use year that was supposed to be for a short studio stay each spring but a 1 bed stay this year wrecked that. We’re looking to add a small contract on to accomplish the 1 bed goals but it’s proving hard to find. Thinking about buying a larger contract and selling the smaller one.

Let's see who has better self control than I do (hint, probably most of you) :)
I sold a 100 point SSR resale contract when I recently purchased a 250 point SSR direct contract using the recent incentives that brought my direct price down to $135 pp. I considered it “washing” my resale points into direct for $40 pp. (I also bought my resale contract fully loaded and sold it completely stripped).

I sold a 100 Pt (SEP UY) BRV contract to fund a 150 PT (JUN UY) BRV contract. I think the use year consolidation was the only thing that kept me from being tempted to keep the old one.

Currently kind of in this situation and need to figure out what we will do.

We initially bought a small AKV contract with a different UY than our original. With our daughter planning a Disney wedding (just two months away now) we decided to look into another small AKV contract, but this time with our original Feb UY. It was not a definite plan, but the idea was that down the road after the wedding we would look at selling the first one.

The issue is that we liked AKV so much after our first stay there earlier this year that we are now not quite sure what we will do. We need to sit down at some point to see if one contract is enough points for future plans or not.

We sold a 270 pt HHI this year and bought a 160 pt fully loaded SSR contract. We used to go to HHI every summer when the kids were young, but haven’t gone in several years. I couldn’t justify the higher maintenance fees when we weren’t using the points at HHI any longer. Since we “lost” points in that swap, now I’ve been browsing smaller contracts. I was supposed to be content with the 160 since we also have 250 SSR direct points, but you all know how that goes! 😂

When I bought my direct VGF 2023, I did speak out loud to myself, no one else was around and say, I will sell that resale VGF I bought back in 2020 now and buy some BCV points. I bought BCV this past March and never have sold that resale VGF. So I guess I was lying to myself when I said that.

I say sit down and make your plans fit your points not your points fit your plans, and keep them. :-)

Wise words, the contract is gone today.
If it’s too good/perfect to pass up you just gotta jump on it, but it can be very eye opening when it’s gone and you feel bummed only for another one to show up the next day. lol
Happens to me all the time, so I have started to learn to let them get snatched up unless I HAVE to have it. I recently bought 2 BWV 25pt contracts because I thought I needed them, second one matching perfectly to my first one, and then a week later there is a 60pt that is in an even better UY. :(

We just sold a small BCV contract to offset the purchase of a loaded BWV contract.
No Regrets!
& I might do it again with an SSR contract if I find the perfect BLT contract😂
Good call on both parts!! ;)

I'm about to purchase an Aulani contract for the sole purpose of a 2026 trip and will be selling it immediately thereafter.
You can even sell it before you go. Or at least list it.

I can't tell if you're joking but if not please explain how this makes sense vs renting points.

I'm guessing it would be Dues vs Rental cost?
I'm not sure the savings would be worth the hassle, but I also think id rather own & worry about "IF" I was going to actually sell later. ;)

If we decided we need more points, we may still sell it and get more Feb points instead. Different UYs aren't terrible, especially now that I understand transferring points, but it would still be easier to have them all lumped under the same contract.

Actually, I would do what @WinterSolider is going to but with another resort and book at 7 months solely due to Harpta and the high closing cots in HI. That eliminates a large portion of the hassle.
