How many Disney cards have you bought at Target

...at once? :)

I need to get about 50 of them to pay off most of our trip this week (I will do it to save $125, definitely) and I'm wondering if I should go buy like 5-10 at a time so I don't look like a total weirdo in the checkout lane. ;)

I would do whatever you feel comfortable doing! :thumbsup2 You're not doing anything "wrong" but I understand the "awkward" feeling of getting 50 at a time. I'd be inclined just to do the 50 at one time to get it over with and that way they are on one receipt if needed.

I just applied about 30 gift cards to our cruise reservation, online, yesterday. I had accumulated them last month before the holidays when Target was running the awesome special of spending $50 and getting a $10 gift card free. We were able to buy some Disney gift cards and earned "free $10 Target gift cards" along the way.

I have about $1200 left to pay off our cruise and I'm absolutely going to do the gift cards at Target as it will save me another $60! :cool1: I just haven't decided if I'm going to apply for the Target Debit Card or just ask my Mom to do it.....;)

Go for it - :)

So the 5% off your purchase using your target debit card applies to gift cards also? I just got my target debit card and we leave for our trip in 5 days. If this is true I plan on visiting our target and stocking up:)

Thanks!!

Yep, it applies to the Disney gift cards as they are considered "Entertainment" cards! :cool1:

Enjoy! :)

Yup. I bought $500 worth of gift cards today for $475. She did ID me because I was buying that many, but I didn't mind at all.

The webpage and my webbrowser at work aren't playing nice, so I can't apply them to my trip but I'll try from home later (it keeps telling me the first name I put in isn't the same as the name on the card, which, well, it's a gift card, there IS no name on it, nor did I input one.)

Maybe my next trip tomorrow I'll get 15 cards. :P

I don't remember the exact amount per transaction, but I paid for our entire previous trip with them. You may be limited by how many your Target has in stock. I ended up going to two different Targets to get mine. I think I got 24 of them in the first trip, if I remember right. No problems at all. I would recommend pre-calculating your total, though, to make sure everything rings up correctly. It will likely be a higher amount than you ever have spent at one time at Target!

Can you point me in the right direction or tell me about this. I am planning a trip and every little bit will help.

You apply for a Target Debit card at Target - I think mine took about a week to show up, but they gave me a temporary card to use until then. You get 5% off everything you buy at Target, and it is direct debited out of your checking account (I assume this is their way of getting around paying the fees to Mastercard/Visa.)

Then you buy Disney cards with the Target debit card, and you save 5% off your purchase, and then can use the website (or call) to apply the gift cards to your trip balance.

Thanks for your quick I will check that out.

I wish they had those that you could tell them how much to put on it....that would make it so much easier wouldn't it. I'm thinking I'll pick one up everytime I go to Target (our trip isn't until October) and that way I can use them on souvenirs or other little things that come up. I don't want to pay for our trip with them though.....if something ever happened and we had to cancel they refund you on those gift cards....that would be a huge hassle I'm sure. Not to mention then I'd have $3000+ on Disney gift cards that I'd have to hold on to until our next trip. LOL I realize the 5% is a great deal but I just can't buy that many.

This is exactly why I am only now doing it, a week before our pay-off date. If something comes up in the next 45 days and we can't go, well, we'll definitely reschedule, so I don't mind being out the money. But I didn't want to tie up the money until the very last minute, either. :)

One thing that has come up on other threads about the topic and is worth repeating here is that after you use your Target card to pay for 6 prescriptions, they send you a card that gets you an extra 5% off for a whole day. Just yesterday, I went to our local Target, bought every $50 Disney card they had (20 of them) and, using the Target card and bonus 5%, paid $900 for $1000-worth of gift cards. We should get 1-2 more of those extra 5% cards before our trip, and I intend to use those the same way.

(The people behind me in line looked a bit less than thrilled though, since I had a bunch of other stuff to ring up, plus coupons, plus some Target gift cards to use as payment.)

I wish I could convince DH to move his prescriptions, but he's stubborn. I don't have enough to make it worth it - it would take me five months to get five prescriptions - he has more than five every month! ;)

I'm a little unclear about how the gift cards can save you. Do they charge sales tax on the gift card? If so, what is the benefit? I use my Target debit card, because the 5% savings is the same as the sales tax. I'm definitely interested in saving money :thumbsup2

No, no tax.

I bought 28 at one time. That's the most I could buy since that's all they had. Mine doesn't stock a whole lot and it takes a while to get more so I wouldn't wait until the last minute just in case they have none.

I also took cash with me so I rang up my GC transaction on my redcard then went to CS and applied the cash towards my acct.

There's no sales tax on gift cards. You pay sales tax on whatever you buy with the cards.

Yeah, I'm planning on hitting up all four of the Targets near me, and then if I need more I'll spread out some. Tomorrow I'll probably buy more than ten, today was just a test (they had about 15, but I didn't buy them all.)
