How Many Diapers?

My DS is 6months old and I do not want to run out of diapers. We use about 4 a day here, maybe 5. We are going for 9 days. I have 45 packed in the box to ship, and will have about 8 in the diaper bag....seem like enough????

I don't want to have to use them spareingly and have his butt break out.

I always pack way more than I need, so if I were you I'd stick a few more in your suitcase. Once you're packed you can fit a few extras in here and there and they really won't take up that much space (I lay some flat in the zippered pocket inside the lid of the suitcase).

The options to buy diapers in the gift shops aren't great. For one, they're expensive and 2 the sizes run different than the ones you buy in stores at home. Like they combined two size ranges to make one huge range -- so I'm not sure how they'd fit.

I would bring at least 10-12 extras. Tummies are easily upset during travel, so you just never know. Good luck!

I too pack extra, we learned from our first trip with our youngest, she cought a stomache bug and man oh man did we go through them. You do NOT want to have to buy them on site. way to pricey.

I've traveled all over w/ DS and my advice is take extras! He normally goes thru more than I expect, esp on the plane/at airport. Plus, we've had stomach bugs on several trips. At age 6 mo I was planning for 7/day, and on the first trip, was short 2 (cost a fortune to buy in the UK).

Can you do write down (check/line/etc..) each time you change a diaper over the next few weeks.

I can tell you my 2 yo goes thru at least 10 diapers a day, sometimes more but then I change diapers as soon as they are wet. So you can imagine when she was a baby & she is my 3rd so I can't wait to be diaper free.

I also bring an extra day's worth with me. I'd rather have more then less & I ship them too.

Definitely pack more than you need, I would say at least 10-15 more. When DS was 2, he got a tummy bug and I think we went down to our last diaper. I also bring a whole box of wipes.

I'd pack 3 or 4 more per day. Better to be safe then sorry. I have traveled with my sister twice and on both trips her youngest (2 different kids) got the rotovirus ( I think I am spelling that wrong) and we went through the diapers like crazy. I always feel if I don't pack the extras I'll be tempting fate. I always pack 2 extra outfits in addition to the one for every day and a few for when I can change the kids before the TS meals, several extra pairs of undies and socks. So far it has worked to my advantage.

For a 4 day trip we bring 40 diapers. I always bring too many but better safe than sorry. You never know what might pop up on your vacation.

OK, I’m “the always be prepared mom”. We generally use 4-6 per day, so I pack 12-14 in the diaper bag. There scrunched, but they’re in there. Occasionally, we’ve had a need for quite a few more—something doesn’t sit well with his stomach, whatever. I’ve never used all of them, but I’ve used way more than normal. Plus, I’m the person everyone always hits up with the “Do you have an extra diaper?” I’m fine with that, wouldn’t want some poor baby to suffer until the parents can buy some—perhaps in a different size.

Another vote here for "pack more than you think you could possibly need, better safe than sorry."

Looking at your signature it looks like we've got a lot in common...we're heading to Disney with our 4 year old DD and our 6 month old DS, too. (Although it looks like our dates don't overlap, our trip is the week before.) Have a great time!! :goodvibes

Thanks Ladies for all the answers. I guess I am going to pack about 15 more. I am not to worried about his tummy, all he gets is a little bit of baby food and he is breastfed.

It is CRAZY how much stuff you need to pack for a baby and a 4yo!

Anyone have a Master List?

Normally went through 5 a day so I always figured 8 per day for WDW (always added an extra day's worth to my calculations just in case flight got cancelled or something). I packed all those in the suitcase, plus I had another extra day's worth in the diaper bag. We always came home with extras, but I always kept my same calculations "just in case."

Something else to consider- are you doing any pool days where DS may be in swim diapers for a while? Whenever we planned on a few days at the pool/cruise/waterpark, I planned for most of the "day" to be spent in the swim diapers and regular ones for the afternoons and evenings- I usually reduced my daily number by 2 or 3 and packed that many swim diapers instead.

Have fun! There's soooo much to take when you are taking an infant, but we always had a blast with them there.

I do have a pack of swim diapers but we are not doing a water park. I figure that the swim diapers will make us go throguh a few more diapers then normal. Only because you ahv eto take his diaper off to go to the pool and you will use a fresh one when you get back. I am pretty sure I have it covered now.

I had been asking my Dha nd he was like a package of them should be PLENTY. That is 32. I knew he was crazy, Obviously he is not the one changing him most of the time. I bet he thinks 32 diapers last for a months, :rotfl:
