I generally hate these open ended sort of questions, but here goes...

I've never been to US, I'm a diehard disney fan, but after going 3-4 times a year for the past 5 years, I'd like to try something new. I'm thinking about getting an annual pass to US, and spending dec 1-7th there this year. (My workplace is shut down for construction at this time, I can't move my dates.) Do you think this is too long for a US trip? I realize the park is much smaller, but are there many things to keep me busy for a week?

We go for a week..We spend our time leisurely touring both parks,re-riding our favorite rides and shows , relaxing at the resort .They also run free shuttles to seaworld ...You need to adjust your touring style. If you are staying that long, it is not necessary to do the "Disney Commando" mindset..

We go for a week at a time too. I'm always trying to find ways to stretch it to 8-9 days. But everyone is different, I'm sure some people on here would say 1-3 days tops.
I like amusement parks, and thrill rides. I love, love, LOVE Harry Potter, Marvel superheroes, Shrek, Minions, etc (and never liked Disney princesses...plus I have 3 boys and no girls.)

I keep telling DH, when we hit the jackpot, we're moving into Hogwarts at IoA.

We did four days our first trip and it wasn't enough. We do 7 days now. We use the 4-day pass. The other days are easy to fill. Seaworld, DTD, Citywalk, minigolf, pool hopping at the other resorts. Even went off property to disc golf one day.

We stay club level and just chill out and take it slow. Which is strange because 7 days still flies by so fast.

I agree that a week at Universal is not too long. We just got back from a four night stay with three park days and we could have easily done 4 or 5 park days, especially with enjoying the resorts. We would have loved to have had a pool morning, but we just didn't have time. Are you planning to stay on site? I would HIGHLY recommend that. Like Disney, Universal is about the entire experience - not just the parks. The resorts are gorgeous and definitely worth the cost.

We are leaving Friday for a week with the 3 park unlimited passes. We'll probably do a couple of days of rope drop - midday break - dinner return and a couple of days where we stay until 4ish and head back to the resort. Maybe toss in one mostly resort day and maybe 1 day at Kennedy Space Center (dh and the boys are gearheads). One week definitely not too much.

We had a three day ticket In early (December). One day at Universal, and two at IOA. Three days was plenty of time for us.

Unless you are planning another trip within the year to US wouldn't a 14-day Orlando Flex Ticket be cheaper and give you more parks to explore.

i'm the last one that should be answering your question.
i stay on site for 12 nights or more in the fall every year.

rest of the other 11 months, do stay onsite at various times but only for a week

haven't been bored yet staying there.

As you have never gone, I think 4-5 days should do it for the first time. I am going July 11-19 (9 days as my flight on the 11th is the morning and the flight back on the 19th is at night) and I am going 5 days to Disney and buying the 2 day/one day free pass from Universal. Will likely go twice and maybe a third time depending. May (I say this every trip and don't) take an off day in the middle or even go to Kennedy Space Center for one day. I pretty much know what I like at Universal and can do most of what I like in a single day and between the two days I get on everything and then some personal favorites a second time. But as for you I would go down for 4-5 days (allowing 2 days for each park and then maybe a fifth to repeat some).

I was just at universal for 6 nights/7 days and never felt bored. I have 3 small kids though so we move at a slow pace.

I think going for 7 days is longer than most people go but I don't think it's too long and wouldn't hesitate to stay that long again. It's a nice leisurely vacation!
