How many days to drive?

We are driving from NJ with five children(13,11,7,4 & 1). Should we plan on 2 nights/3 days or 1 night/2 days. We did the drive in one night back when we only had 3 kids. Am I crazy to think that we can leave very early on a Friday and check in on Saturday. I know we are crazy to drive anyway, but DH doesn't want to fly with all the kids.

I made it from Pa (near philly) in 2 days 1 night and an overnight. We have a 2yo and a 1 yo

Getting there we left at 8am...stopped a bunch of times and stayed overnight near Savannah, GA. And checked into Pop the next day around 12pm. Then coming home we left at 8pm and got home around 12pm.

It went smoother for the kids coming home then going there....I don't know how much smoother it was for DH who did most of the driving! HTH

I think if you left early on Friday and drove down into VA near the NC border - you should be fine with just spending 1 night. From Charlotte, NC - its only about an 8 hour drive after that.

I know from Annapolis MD to Charlotte its just 6.5/7 hours from Charlotte.

We drove straight through with a 2 and 4 yr old. Left at 9 am from WDW and got back to pa ( pittsburgh area) somewhere between 12 and 2 am

I think it's best to do as few overnights as possible. It just makes the trip seem longer. Even with several good-length breaks for running around, you should be able to leave Friday and arrive Saturday. We've driven straight through from New England with toddlers and it honestly wasn't that bad. It was worse for us than for the kids. They snacked and watched video and slept all night long. We left at about 6 pm to take advantage of the long stretch of night driving By the time the babes woke up, we were half way there!
