How many days for DisneyLAND?

We have decided to have a bit of a change next summer and are going to head to the west coast. So for those of you who have been how many days to we need to see DL & CA?

Hi. We went last year as an add on to a trip to Canada. We stayed 5 nights, arrived mid afternoon on day 1 so we just did DTD and a character meal at goofys kitchen, then had 4 full days leaving mid afternoon on the last day. We did everything we wanted to as many times as we wanted to so I would say that's ideal (we went end of August so it was hot, reasonably busy and we caught the start of the marathon weekend which made Friday and Saturday busy. I guess it depends on crowd levels and how much you want to do. I would say a minimum of 3 days but 4-5 better if you have the time. Have fun, we loved it, especially Carsland (must do RSR at night!). Also found photo pass was a real bargain, lots of magic shots (look for Dave at the partners statue and also the photogs by Flos).

I think it really depends what else you are doing. We went in 2009 and did 5 nights as we were doing San Fran, San diego, and Malibu Beach as well. We found this to be enough Disney.

We are hopefully going again in 2016 and this time it will probably be 4 nights as we want to also go to Florida.

We are doing NY on the way out and FL on the way back.

This will purely be to see DL & CA.

First of all, it depends if you stay onsite, or at one of the cheaper hotels in close proximity (best thing about DLR is that you can walk to the parks from offsite hotels)

If you stay onsite, you get EMH.
If you don't, you get ONE magic morning starting with the 3 days ticket. (you don't get one with 2 days tickets or less)

You may want to allow at least 3 days to tour the parks.
4 is a good number if you like to take your time.

I agree with one of the PP. 3 is a minimum, 4 is really good.
5 if you want to enjoy your hotel for breaks and take it easy

We had 7 nights in Anaheim - we had a five day hopper ticket which gave us one magic morning and five full days/evenings in the parks, the other two days we used going to the beach and seeing LA. It was a very busy time in August, straight after the D23 expo so all the hotels were full, yet we managed everything easily including a morning spent doing the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour and afternoons at the pool. We're going back this summer and although we've got five day hoppers again we're only planning on spending three days in the park but will be using the other two days on the tickets to go in for fireworks etc in the evening.

Loved Disneyland - it's definitely now my favourite of the parks.

We've been twice to Disneyland, the first time we did 4 days and the second trip 3 days. We stayed offsite on both occasions but loved that we could walk to the parks from our hotel.. Both trips were in August and although it was busy we never felt like the queues were too long. Cars land is amazing! We tried to go there early morning and then just before the park closed.
Don't miss the World of Colour show at California Adventure it's well worth seeing.

We did a week in Anaheim... I found three days in disney plenty (plus extra evenings at DTD) with a day at Universal and then the rest of the time for site seeing!

I would also say 3-4.
We spent loads of time in there but it was back in the days of VMK, half our time was collecting cards from rides to get virtual items for the online game. If we hadn't have been doing that 3 days would have been plenty for us (plus we did the Halloween party on both our trips there)

We went four years ago.
We purchased something that was a city pass. It gave us:
3 days at disney parks
1 day at universal hollywood
1 day at San diego zoo or safari
1 day at seaworld San diego!

We found this ticket to be great and enough for us. The beaches are beautiful and so we spent 3 days at those too!

We did 2 days plus the evening we arrived and it wasn't quite enough, should have done an extra day. I think we saw enough of California Adventure but could have done with a little more Disneyland.

But then we moved on to Six Flags Magic Mountain and also did Universal Studios so we did get plenty of other theme park sightseeing done!

Three days are the bare minimum to really enjoy the resort, but four for a first visit would be much better. If you do a tour of California first, add the Disney Family museum to your San Francisco sightseeing list. I found it really good and it will make you appreciate Disneyland even more. I think DL charm is due to its history.
When planning, check the entertainment schedule. You NEED to see Fantasmic!, the Fireworks and Alladdin musical and those do not run every day of the year. Unless it's a very busy period, F! and the fireworks may run only during the week end.

We did Disneyland last summer and had six nights at the Disneyland hotel. We had one day where we did the tourist bus into LA/Hollywood and the rest was spent in the parks and Downtown Disney. We still felt that we needed another night as we also had a couple of afternoons round the pool to chill. We didn't have any transport as the trip was purely to do Disney - we absolutely loved it! We then did as you're planning and flew down to Orlando.
