How many cell phones have you had?

Our cell phones are two years old and won't hold a charge...so it's time for new phones. We're leaving for the Verizon store in a minute. I just realized that this will be my fourth phone in 7 years, and every time it's been because the old one won't hold a charge any more. The first one was HUGE, black, and didn't even "flip." The new LG ones we're getting today have cameras.

How many phones have you had? And why have you upgraded?

QUESTION: We just got our LG VX5200 phones. The salesperson assured me that you can set call forwarding, but I can't figure out how. Anybody know? (To clarify: I don't get cell reception in my office, so when I get to work I set my cell phone to forward all calls to my desk phone. I can't figure out how to do that on my new phone.)

ETA: Figured it out; it's through Verizon Wireless, not through the phone like it was with my old one. You dial *72 and the number to turn it on, and *73 to turn it off.

I also just upgraded to the LG8300 yesterday, I  it!

I have had 10 phones since Ive bought my first one. That doesnt count all the times I had to get my phone repaired.

I have an LG camera phone and it is pretty easy to use.
I think I have gone through 6-7 different cell. phones.

I have had Verizon for several years... started in '98 I think...

I'm on my 4th phone, only one was due to not holding a charge.

This phone is over 2 years old and I've had NO problems... it's time to upgrade and I see no reason to do so! Good luck!

One hint I will give you... they did tell me that when charging the phone, only charge it for the few hours it takes to recharge... don't leave it on all night. That "confuses" the phone and makes the battery life shorter. Didn't make sense, but once I started doing that I did notice longer battery life.

Hope that helps!

I've gone through 4 phones when I was with Cingular. Then I cancelled my contract because of bad reception and went to Verizon last September and I've had the same phone with them. It's getting banged up alot since I drop it alot. oops. it's the E815.

I'm lucky if my cell phone lasts a year. I always buy the insurance. I bought a Treo last July and Sprint has replaced it twice since then. I think they are as anxious for my contract to end as I am. :p

I couldn't even guess how many I've had.

We've had too many cell phones. I don't care if you've just walked away from buying a new phone, if you go back for a new battery they won't have that one available anymore and you'll have to buy a new phone.

I guess cell phones are a necessary evil in this day and age, but I rarely carry mine unless I expect to need it. And, I don't feel I need to talk to anyone all the time. I don't need to take pictures with a phone, or play games, or play music. When I do need a phone, all I want to do is talk on it and only for as long as it takes to exchange information important to the moment. I do like the phone book feature, though.

I have been tempted on many occassions to toss my phone into a pond or trash can. I guess I'm getting too old for new annoyances...

Dh insists on upgrading my cell phone every year. I couldn't care less, I rarely use it. He just ordered me one of those cute pink razr phones, by the time I figure out how to use it, he'll be upgrading me again.....

This is my 3rd cell phone in 5 years of having them. My first one was a Nokia that pretty much everyone in the world had with that ridiculous ring tone that was so commonplace it became annoying. My second phone was a Motorola camera phone, and it was just time when the camera phones hit the market. Now I have a Verizon Razor which is just fine for me, it's the first cell phone I can put in my pocket when I'm wearing tight jeans without digging into my hip. People complain about their reception and battery life, but it works just fine for me.

I am on my third one in 13 years. I only got my most recent one 4 years ago because when I use to pull out my old one my friends use to laugh at me and ask what I was talking on a 'brick"
I have beeen thinking of getting a new one because I have been such a loyal customer it will be free.

They told me that too! Do not charge it for more then 4 hours at a time  .

I've had four phones in the last 5-6 years. I upgraded the first time because I changed carriers from AT&T to cingular (pre sims card days). Cingular gave me a really cheap seamons (sp?) phone that died after about a year. Then my dd gave me her old phone that she had gotten second hand from someone else (and now my dh uses that phone, I think it's gonna last forever!). Just last week I bought a used samsung E635 off of ebay just because I liked the looks of it, it was pretty cheap, and it had decent reviews.
