How many Castaway Club members are there?

I hope DCL leaves it alone, as I remember when there was NO loyalty program.

Agreed!!!!! Dcl doesn even have to do this it's a nice thing that's just a extra bonus as for me I will be two cruise away from gold in march2014 and will have 10 days in ship and am plan in on being gold with less than 10 more days

I have typically found that the 2, 3, 4 day cruises, cost per day, is higher than the 7, and certainly higher than the 14 to 15 day cruises. Of course, price per day vastly changes between summer and September. So, a 7 day cruise in September could cost far less than a 3 day cruise Mid-July.

I think so also as far as cost goes but as far as silver gold to platinum it's the fastest way

I also think that a platinum member tht I platinum say plus 10 or more should maye have a different class??? Jut my opinion.. No matter if they took all 2 day cruises or all 15 day cruises it's all the same when it comes down to it

I want each cruise to count twice when I have to pay the 200% single supplement. ;)

Unless you're a kid whose parents start you cruising as an infant. You could be platinum before you even graduate high school without ever spending a thing. Now THAT seems crazy to me.

Yeah. My four year old DD will be gold at age 6...and they only pay child rates.

Well, if they are actually paying their fare I have no issues with them earning status. If the parents are paying though... ;)

Hey, I'm just in it for the LANYARD swag!pixiedust:

If days are counted to reach higher club levels, might as well consider a room category factor too. Those that pay conceirge or 4A vs. category 11, etc.

There are way too many price variables to consider that for CC status levels IMO. So many different scenarios like price spent for the cruise, the room category, how much spent onboard, etc....there would be no fair way I could see to gage it. While I do think they need another level (we have cruised at Platinum level for 19 cruises which is almost double the level to get to Platinum) I don't think price should factor into it. I am on the fence about the amount of days cruised vs. the number of cruises in reaching different levels. Not sure how I feel about number of days.

Why? We were on the MV of the Magic with our 3 kids and have cruised tons of times since then....not all of them with the kids but enough that now as young adults one of our kids have reached Platinum (other 2 are 1 away) without ever spending a dime of her own money. They have been cruising since Day 1 of DCL. Should our DD be denied earning that level just because she did not PAY her own way. If so, that is just silly. I am thrilled she is already at that level and good for her. I think it is great that she's Platinum and can take advantage of any Platinum perks when she cruises with her own family one day. She did not obtain that level by any unethical means and DCL counts every person on the reservation in figuring their personal CC levels, not just the person paying for the cruise, so not sure why it seems crazy that they are able to reach that level.

Well, if they are actually paying their fare I have no issues with them earning status. If the parents are paying though...

So would you tell DCL..."oh no, that's OK...no need for my kids to earn their own CC status level. I am paying for the cruise so I should be the only one earning CC status". Why deny your kids from being able to earn their own CC status level??? Then should you or your wife not earn CC level status depending on which of you pays for the cruise? The implication that only the person paying for the cruise should earn CC status level is crazy to me. As a parent I would be happy for my kid not deny their ability to earn their own CC level.

I was mainly being tongue in cheek to those who were whining that some people get higher status with shorter cruises. Why are they not whining that kids who have little if any to do with where they go (meaning the under tween at least set) on vacation get status.

Frankly I don't give a hoot about what status someone is. I wouldn't take a cabana if it was given to me, I don't do excursions, and from my experience on the cruise I was just on, there was plenty of spa, Palo, and Remy availability even on the cruise. It seems mostly about bragging rights to me.

I make the kids clean our toilets, walk the dog, etc., in exchange for CC status! Please don't give DCL the idea to take it away!;)

Thanks for clarifying it was meant tongue in cheek. My view is people do not cruise just to get to a CC level for bragging rights, they cruise DCL because they love the product.

A 7-day September cruise is cheaper than or at least equal to a 4-day summer cruise. Actually my 4-day Dream cruise next July is almost double what I'm paying for the 14 night WBTA!! Course add in the different airfare and I'm about even. But we are talking 4 day versus 14 day. The only reason I'm doing the 4-day is to be with extended family (we'll be 24 total in 10 rooms).

I want each cruise to count twice when I have to pay the 200% single supplement. ;)

I hear you! :)

Has anyone ever seen any official (from a Disney employee) information on the mix of CC members on a cruise? How many are silver, gold, platinum, and how many are first time cruisers?

That feels about right in our experience. Platinum cruisers were about 2% of the guests. And I see why Silver members are no longer invited to the reception! I wish these numbers were generally available online, it would be interesting to watch gold and platinum grow over the years.

DS (17) hit Platinum status when he was 10. I will have to add some more chores to his task list!

DD (22) hit Platinum when she was 16.

FWIW, I would also like to see DCL use number of days when computing status. Only one of our cruises was less than 7 days. Would also like to see a higher level and bring back the $350 stateroom credit :yay:
