How many beignets do people eat?

Really? Or just a bit of an exaggeration? We're buying at Ralph Brennan's and bringning them to into DCA for breakfast so are trying to ballpark how many bags to get

Just eat them there and then if you need more just get more. They are SUPER messy and drop powdered sugar everywhere so it's not something you can eat on the go. Just plan 15 extra minutes so you can sit down and eat them right away.

We met up with a friend (so 3 adults total) and got a family bag of 10, and then each of us got supplemental food/drinks (for instance, I got chicory coffee and a side of bacon -- I don't mind sugarbombs for breakfast on special occasions but I knew I'd feel better if I had some protein). It ended up being a little too much; I think we did finish off the bag in the end (so in the neighborhood of 3 beignets each) but we probably would have been better off having just 2 apiece. If the teenage boys in your party fit the stereotype for appetite, maybe count them each as two adults and expect them to each eat four or five of the things.

I agree with the advice above, though, about just sitting down and eating them right after you buy them. We chose a day when the parks were opening at 9:00 to do our beignet breakfast precisely so we could show up at Ralph Brennan's at 8:00 and have time to sit down and eat. The line for food wasn't long at all, and even though we weren't concerned about needing to go back for more it was a good move in terms of being able to eat breakfast without ending up covered in powdered sugar. There's tons of it and it goes everywhere; the beignets are not good walking food, plus they're best when they're still hot.

I was going to say 1 or 2... It's like a doughnut in size and sugar so how many of those your family usually eats. I got a 4 pack for 3 teens to share as a morning snack.

We had them for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Just me and 4 teenagers. We each had two and could have eaten more, but it definitely isn't a meal. You will be buying more food in no time if that is all you eat for breakfast.

I tried some for the first time on our 4th visit last month, picked up a family pack of 10 from the takeaway counter at Ralph Brennan's. I was, um, underwhelmed. They were big greasy soggy doughy messes. I made my way through a couple, others in our group had one or a bite at most.

Later that trip I was fortunate enough to try the originals at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, and they were worlds apart. The NOLA versions were light and crispy on the outside and absolutely delicious, a real highlight of our visit.

Still to try the ones in Disneyland, keeping those for our next visit

I would not recommend them as a meal, but for teenage boys I would say 6-8 each depending on their size and appetite.

I eat 2, but my teenage son eats 4-6. He's tall and lanky without a shred of fat on him. I wish I had his metabolism.
