docrafiki, the reason why we have 4 bathrooms is because there is one in the master bedroom, and one in the upstairs hall for the kids to share. On the main floor there is a powder room, and then we added a full bath with a shower when we had our basement finished. So, actually the house is not that unusual. It just sounds like a lot. 
I can honestly say though, I don't ever remember a time when all were in use at the same time. When my kids are all teeneagers though, it might be a different story. And, like CJMickeymouse, we also designed and built our house with that in mind!
