How long....
First trip to WDw in May. How long does it take to enjoy the whole park at AKL and MGM.....1 or two days. Thanks for your oppinions.

Disnee Dad Says.............................................If you can hop I'd go with 3/4 AK and 1 1/4 MGM and you'll get to see most of both, but not all. Go Jailblazers!

I think it's really a personal decision. We LOVE both parks so we normally go for half days but a few different times throughout our vacation. We go on Rock n Rollercoaster at least 10 times each trip :D We spend way less time at Epcot - maybe a half day total whereas other people can spend 2 full days there. It's all a matter of what you like.

Personally, I think AK is an underrated park, and you could easily spend a full day or more there, but, if you are willing to miss the AK afternoon parade, I agree with Disnee Dad that you can more or less get through AK by mid-afternoon.

If you're staying on-site, use the Magic Hour. Go direct to the Safari ride at opening, use Fastpass as necessary for Dinosaur, It's Tough to be a Bug and Kali River Rapids, skip Rafiki's Planet Watch (enjoyable and educational, but a time-eater in relation to the attractions there). See the Lion King show, skip Tarzan if you are running low on time.

You could go to the Studios on the evening of your AK visit. See Fantasmic (perhaps use the dinner package to cut you wait in line) and whatever else you can squeeze in (keep FastPass in mind).

You have to hit the Studios during daytime hours to make the shows. Go for Magic Hour if you can--go direct to Tower of Terror and Rock 'N Roller Coaster, get FastPass for an early show of Little Mermaid (small capacity theater). Schedule around showtimes for Indiana Jones (Fastpass available here, but it's a huge theater and usually not necessary to use Fastpass) and Beauty and the Beast (and Playhouse Disney if you have young kids), and the afternoon parade if you desire. Use Fastpass as necessary for Star Tours, Muppet Vision 3-D and Millionaire (and Tower of Terror and Rock 'N Roller Coaster). If you still have energy left after all this, since you will already have seen Fantasmic, hop over to Epcot's World Showcase for dinner and Illuminations.

We tend to be able to spend an entire day at MGM. It gets to be a more relaxed pace, but we stay busy from opening until closing. We always leave with a few attractions undone this trip (hence, the reason to come back :D ) We however, aren't the biggest fans of AK. We like it but don't hit it every trip. It definetly has some great rides, just sometimes it can be hard to manuever through there. So, we never spend more than a few hours at AK. I think AK comes down to personal preference. That would factor into how long it will take.

I recommend for a first timer 1 day for each of these parks. That should give you sufficient time to see all the big things. I recommend making a list of your must sees before you go.

Thanks Eveeryone! Since it is our first time to WDW we will most likeley plan on one full day at each park. Sounds like a good idea to go to MGM in the evening of AKL to catch a late show.
