I want to do the Character breakfast and the Saferi and the rapids and the Tree Advise on order yto do these things . Planning on going on an evening extra hours day once I can get the schedule in acouple of months. Input appreciated Thanks

I don't think you need a whole day, but leaving at noon would be cutting it short. We usually stay until mid-afternoon and then go to another park.

It would depend on how long we stayed.

You can get through everything in the place in a day if you don't dawdle anywhere. It really is a fabulous park and our 2nd favorite behind MK. But therein also lies a problem. Dawdling is very easy to do and very enjoyable in that park. We dawdled away 3 hours at Rafiki's planet watch once because we got to observe a surgery on a meerkat.

Does anyone know what kind of temperatures to expect at the beginning of Oct at the AK? :confused3

this tripwe will do MK 2 days and 1 emh night
two full EPCOT days
one AK day
and one MGM day....

but we failed to see everything last year with just one day in each park

this next trip is like a whole new vacation for us because we just did not have enough time last year!!

we are 2nd time disney vacationers....

I am not so sure about It's Tough To Be A Bug...I am arachnophobic, so I don't think I would like it. :goodvibes

I'm HUGELY arachnaphobic, too, but DO NOT MISS this show! It's awesome! There are only two parts with spiders. The first is not scary at all - it's very funny and has a muppet-ish tarantula on the screen. He's the first bug that Flik introduces. Seriously, it's not scary at all and I'm a FREAK about spiders.

The other part is scary, but if you know when it's coming just close your eyes. I don't want to wreck it, but about halfway through when the fog fills the theater, close your eyes and keep them closed until you hear Hopper call off the spiders. It lasts about 15 seconds, tops. That's exactly what I do, and I LOVE this show!!

Thank you so much for the tip about spiders in ITTBAB, WDWguru!!! I am very nervous about this attraction, but DH is really looking forward to it. Anyone uses Unofficial Guide touring plan for this park? We will use it for our trip in March, but have only alotted from opening, 9am to about 2pm for this park- more time at Epcot F&W fest! Is this reasonable- we will skip planet watch, and eat a late lunch @Epcot? Sound good or crazy?

I really enjoy going to AK on one of the more quiet days. If you love animals then you could probably spend a good amount of time there just watching the animals. The rides there are great and if you have the magic hour(s) on your side at night then EE is well worth the wait.
The Lion King show is our favorite and we have seen it every year for the past 4 years.
Keep a look out for Devine as well. She roams part of the park starting in Africa. You might not see her right away, but when you come across a crowd of people all staring in the same direction just follow their lead.
I voted for 3 days because out of 7 we normally only go twice, but I could definitely go for another.

Have fun....

Our family LOVES AK!! Last year we went for 2 full days and had the best time. We stroll/meander through the parks and really appreciate the scenery. My children all have decide that our 2nd day at WDW is our 1st AK day. I insisted MK was day #1.

My wife and I did a half a day last week and I think it was more than enough time. If you arrive by 10 or 10:30 go right away and get a fastpass for EE and then go around and to the other things you want to see. I would definately agree that "It's Tough to be a Bug" is a must see. By the time we got to the Safari, later in the afternoon, a lot of the animals were sleeping and we only saw a few.

While you are on that side of WDW, I would recommed eating at Boma's in the AKLodge. It has some different kinds of food on the buffet, but it is well worth it. If you are on DDP, it only costs one TS credit. We scheduled our dinner at 6, but next time we will go closer to 4:30 or 5 since we were done with with all we wanted to see in the park around 4:00.

I also voted one full day. I really enjoy this park. The atmosphere is so different from the other three. Being a huge bird lover I like to take my time going through the aviary on one of the nature trails (either the gorilla trail or tiger trail, I forget which). You can pick up a sheet that IDs the different species housed there. I also like the Flight show for similar reasons.

And the safari ride is the kind of thing you can do over and over. It changes every time you ride because the animals have moved to different locations.

And I LOVE Dinosaur; it scares me every single time!

To get all that AK has to offer, it definitely deserves the better part of a full day.

Three rides are absolute musts: EE, Kilimanjaro Safari and Kali River Rapids.

You should do the Maharajah Jungle Trek as well...the tigers, giant fruit bats, etc. It's very cool.

Tough to be a Bug and Wonders of Flight are also well worth it.

There some other things to take in as well, nevermind just walking around enjoying the sites so that you don't have to feel rushed.

I just can't see getting all in before noon.

Also, since it's the park that closes the earliest of the 4, if you're gonna have an evening where you eat at a resort restaurant, AK day is perfectly made for it.

I also think that you should spend at least one day at AK. I just can't imagine not walking through the Maharajah Jungle Trek (tigers, bats, birds, Indian temple ruins) and the Pangini Forest Exploration Trail (gorillas, meerkats, hippos). I do love the safari, but you have to keep moving, and on the trails, you can spend as much time as you want watching the animals. And seriously, itsnotazoo!! :rotfl2: But it really is much better than any zoo I have ever seen. I also recommend Flights of Wonder. We had always skipped it, but I saw it in February and couldn't believe what I had been missing. It is a GREAT show. How often do you get to be THIS CLOSE to a bald eagle? As you may have guessed, I love AK. EE is an AWSOME addition. What a great ride! I think the best advice is not to "commando" your way through your "must dos" and then leave. Take a little time to look around, it is really a beautiful park!
