How Long With No Parks

I could spend 3 days and 2 nights at AKV, with visits to Downtown Disney (shopping), Fort Wilderness (dinner at Trail's End and horseback riding) and Port Orleans (dinner at Boatwrights and a carriage ride).

We were originally planning an 8 night trip for next year split into two 4 nights with a cruise in the middle. We had planned 2 days at Universal and some waterpark time and with all the other things we wanted to do (hire boats, mini golf, spend time at our resort, signature dining) I could hardly fit any park time in so wasn't planning park tickets.

We have added on another 5 nights so now have park tickets so for us I think we can at least do 6 nights before we want to go to the parks.

We had a 10 night stay with only 1 park day a couple of years ago.

We did 10 days last January. We did a bunch of unusual stuff ...... Manitee Festival (our friend drove), winery tour/tasting, we rented a pontoon from WLV and toured Bay Lake, fireworks from BLT a couple of nights, took in a few movies at DTD, and just generally relaxed around the resort. I was re-habbing a knee injury, so a lot of hot tub time was just what I needed! We plan on doing something similar this coming January when we go, as it was truly a vacation.

I have done as long as 10 nights with no parks. In place of no parks, lots of beach/pool time at VB, cruise, and BWV had a wonderful time.

A week to 10 days, depending on where we stay. I'll bet we could stay for closer to 10 days if we were at AKV, but no more than a week at OKW or BCV.

5 day trip this coming October..CAN'T WAIT to enjoy the Poly and BCV..only doing 2 full Epcot F&W days. :drinking1Looking forward to relaxing!:beach:

I would say about 5 days. I've done 3 and just enjoyed the stuff at the resorts and the campground. It was wonderful.

We usually do 5 to 7 nts a year at either BCV AKV and now we will try the Villas at the Grand Floridian, my kids love it just as much as going to the parks. There is so much to from Fishing trips, boat rentals, golf and DTD....

We could do a week (7 days). I am a golfer, and my wife is as well, so we could certainly fill a few days at the different courses. Then, with all the different restaurants, maybe a show at House of Blues (if someone I liked was playing), Cirque. We also could rent bikes / boat, swim and relax. I have probably only scratched the surface, but there are many things to do outside the parks

If I'm not going to the parks, I'm not going to WDW. So my answer is 0. We own dvc to go to the parks, we vacation elsewhere to relax.

We spent 3 days this summer at Beach Club Villas and I could have certainly stayed longer. We swam in the day and did Beaches & Creme for dinner one night. Walked over to the Boardwalk another and then watched the Epcot fireworks on our way back. There is so much you can do without going to the parks.

We just did an 8-day trip in the summer (4 nights at Poly and 4 nights at SSR). We went to Typhoon Lagoon once and I went to Magic Kingdom with a friend, to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour (literally did the tour, then left the park). I really thought I would miss the parks but I honestly did not. If we had been staying at an Epcot resort, though, I would have not been able to resist popping in to watch Illuminations or drink a Grey Goose slush ;)

We did a week long trip in 2005 and only went to the parks 1 day. Had a hopper and split AK/MK. We had went to FL for spring training so we caught 3 games at WDW plus 1 rainout over in Winter Garden. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that trip. Had a 1BR OKW for me, DH and DS who was 15 months at the time. One of our best trips. :)

Maybe I'll change, but I haven't in 25+ years so we'll see. I bought DVC to go to the DLR and WDW to go to the parks. While the resorts are beautiful, don't get me wrong; and I could spend a lifetime there, but it's just not my priority when I'm down. Our priority, by far and away, is to spend as much QUALITY time in the parks as possible. Sure. We go in the mornings and take breaks in the afternoon by the pool or napping, but we're right back at night though we usually leave shortly after fireworks. Rinse. Repeat.

I can certainly understand why some of you guys do what you do, but my attitude is that I can enjoy a great resort-only stay anywhere. At Disney, I'm there for the parks. I'm an older parent (53) with a young child (DD10) and maybe it will change as we all age more, but so far, I just can't see it happening, at least not to us.

My DW and I were commandos before our DD was even a thought. If anything, she's forced us to slow down a little. The good news is her legs are getting longer and she's showing signs she can keep up. Here we go again! :D

We've done 3 day weekends.....but technically we cheated.....no park tickets, but special party tickets.....like MNSSHP and MVMCP. Done that 3 times with NO parks except the party night (as the ticket allows you entry at 4pm). We did a 3 day adults only weekend once with no parks. BCV and BWV split stay. It was wonderful.

So without my kids, I could spend several days relaxing.....especially at BCV. But I don't think I'd ever stay at BLT where we own without hitting the parks.
