How long will you wait in line?

Pre-FP I waited 3.5 hours for Splash Mountain during Spring Break as a 17 year old.

Now....it would likely depend on what the ride was and how long I'd already been on my feet that day/trip. Most rides I'd say 45 minutes or so is my limit, but there are some things I would wait longer for in a heartbeat.

And how come you can't get a FP as an offsite visitor? I don't understand. Are you saying because you have to wait for the 30 day mark, they are all gone?

Yes for 7DMT, it is extremely hard to get a FP if you just try at the 30 day mark. In multiple visits the only time I have seen a FP available was during the fireworks show and we wanted to see the show, so that was a no go for sure. It means we have done standby. But now it's a been there, done that, bought the T shirt, and it's one that is not worth it to us without a fastpass. Despite the ride having been around for a few year, it still seems to be the hottest FP at the MK. It is cute, but in no way shape or form for us since we've been worth an hour wait. Honestly since we've been I would not want to wait for it unless the line was 20 minutes or less. Do note the ages in our party are 23+, so the priority may be different for different parties and different age groups. It's a coaster both young and old enjoy, so it's probably on most people's itinerary.

I'm definitely a 20 minutes or less kind of person. The longest I've waited recently was about 40 minutes when the posted time wasn't accurate, and I found that excruciating!

30 minutes max for any ride. FoP wasn't all that...I'd wait 30 for good rides like Splash or Soarin'. (the fact that FoP made me violently motion sick even through my prescription motion sickness patch may have colored my perception).

Longest wait would be 45 minutes, but that is like once a trip if I have to. Normal wait under 20 with possibly a couple 30 minute lines a day. I hate waiting in line

I used to think it was crazy as well till I talked to a family from Lithuania, it was a mom, dad and three teenagers. They rode fop with a fp but the teens had so much fun and wanted to do it again and knew they were likely not coming back to wdw until they have teenagers of their own so what's a three hour wait.

My trip isn't until June, but I'm playing on the Disney app looking at wait times. At about 10:30 this morning I believe FoP was 240 minutes! I just don't stand in line that long. I know there are many people who have no idea about FP so that's why the wait times are what they are. The longest I'm willing to stand in line is 30 minutes. Sometimes, if it's an inside queue, that's a great time for a cool down. I visit in warmer months, so this comes in handy .

Answered 1 hour, but I have waited an hour and a half for TSMM multiple times (I really like it that much), and 2 hrs once for Everest (It was the high crowds of nearly Christmas and I find the queue there calming. All the twists and turns and extra holding areas were open, and I thought it was kind of neat to have walked the entire queue. yes, I know I'm weird). Mind I go either solo or with adult friends who are capable of entertaining themselves elsewhere if they do not want to stand in line with me. I have a FP+ for FoP this trip, but I feel like I'll probably do it standby at least once.

1 advantage (if you want to call it that) of doing the standby queue is getting time to examine all the details the imagineers have incorporated. This is not true of all queues though... sadly.

Another positive in a standby queue is sometimes you can meet some pretty cool people. There are many occasions where this has happened to us.

So then why would you even bother to read my thread? Move on to something else like I do when it's a topic that "annoys" me.

Guess you've never heard of FP. Don't recall ANYONE here who said they ride EVERYTHING in under a 20 minute wait. Gee, me, the original poster even said I would wait 30 minutes to ride certain rides. Others have said they would wait an hour. If you choose to walk around the park 9 hours and stand in 40+ minute waits...that's on you, but no need to come on my thread where I was only curious about how long people are willing to stand in line and just be flat out rude. Your post really isn't necessary and once again, you could have read and moved right on along.

Well, yeah, that's the posted wait times perhaps between those hours for some things. However, if you've actually read the threads here you would know a combination of rope drop (I don't think I've rolled into a park that late (11am) to ride rides in a long time), FP+ with refresh strategy, and waiting for fireworks, parades, or park close will indeed lead to low waits. You must think we are lying? Ok, that lets the rest of us get on with it. If you have questions about those things, let us know, we're happy to help.

It's not a secret. Rope drop, pre-booked FP, and refreshing the MDE app. Never waited for ANY ride 12/8-12/14 longer than 30 min including FoP twice (once at rope drop and once with a FP and rode Navi with practically a walk on at rope drop). It's talked about here DAILY on various threads.

Also, just because it says a 40 minute wait does not mean it actually HAS a 40 min wait. Get the LINES app. It gives posted wait times AND the ACTUAL real wait time.

I'm with you on 30 minutes. I can't see waiting in line for hours for a ride that is less than 5 minutes. FoP is an amazing ride but no ride warrants waiting 3 hours- could be half your day standing in line. If you plan right (hitting rides at RD or park close) you can get a lot done. Once you hit late morning or mid day that is when the lines are at their peak, which is why the method of RD and leave for the afternoon can help avoid the hight of the crowds. A friend of mine said that some of her friends went and waited hours in line, I told her that when she is ready to take her kids that i will show her the way of not waiting more than 20-30 minutes. It might often involve creative park hopping, but to ride mostly everything with shortish waits you have to have a solid plan.

I don’t have one rule for all situations, just like I don’t have one max price I’ll pay for a meal.

I waited 80 minutes to ride FoP during opening month with great company and have no regrets. That same trip I waited 25 agonizing minutes in the boring NRJ queue and won’t ever do that again without a fast pass or under 10 minute wait.

Now that I’ve ridden FoP several times I would rather not wait more than 45 minutes but I’ll do it if I’m with another person who hasn’t been on it or who really wants to ride.

I know there are many people who have no idea about FP so that's why the wait times are what they are.

You can do everything right and get shutout for a FP at FoP. What blows my mind is people haven’t caught on that getting in line at closing is your best play.

Here's the secret:

We go during Easter. Parks typically open at 7am to 8am. We get there at rope drop. We choose the longest wait rides for our three FP+ and next three longest waits for our first three rides.

Ride everything with under 20min wait until 11:00am. FP+ at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. Eat and leave park (or do shows/lines with no wait in the afternoon). Enjoy resort for the afternoon.

Yes we sometimes don't get to ride everything. But we often have a second park day during our trip, which we will use three different FP+ for.

Forgot to mention that it also depends on the attraction and it's typical wait time. Question: for 4th etc later fps, how do you all seem to have a wonderful selection for times close to the current time for everything you want? In our experience even with refreshing, we can eventually get a time close or pretty close to the current time for something we want but it can be tough. Are we being too picky? Is there some secret you all know?
