How Long Will The $100 DVC Discount on WDW APs Last???

If they are going to pull it, I would expect it at the end of the year, not mid year. It reads on the member website:

"Disney Vacation Club Members can now receive up to $100 off the price of select 2006 Walt Disney World® Annual Passes. As a Passholder, you can make yourself at home in all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks 365 days a year."

In talking to Member Services about the perks that DVC members receive, the CM said perks are priviliges and privileges can be withdrawn at any time. So I would hope this would not be discontinued any earlier than Dec. 2006. Perks for 2007 have not yet been published therefore who knows beyond Dec. 2006.

I have been wondering the same thing about how long this discount will be in place ever since I read the April - June 2006 Portable Perks:

"As part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth, Disney Vacation Members and their immediate family residing in the same household are eligible to receive discounts on select Walt Disney World Annual and Premium Annual Passes."

I took that to mean that the discount is only good through the end of the Happiest Celebration on Earth. But hopefully they'll keep it in place like they did ME.

We did get some advance warning that the AP/PAP discount was coming. Believe it was first announced at the annual meetings. Of course that is no guarantee that we'll get any notice that it's being discontinued. However, it is a very popular discount and would be difficult for DVC to discontinue.
Carol...thanks, I stand corrected. I remember some hints about "something big" but didn't know that they flat out told us the AP discount was coming.

Disney collects a ton of information about all the guests, and has the ability to pull out the data on DVC members and their stays. My guess is that if Disney is seeing more park day visits per member, more food spending, etc then they will continue the discount. I know that if they pull up my information, they'll find that we're in the parks more often and they are capturing more of our dining dollars as we used to eat off-site more often and spend more days off-site with non-Disney attractions.

I think the AP discount is good perk that doesn't really cost Disney all that much since the AP's also come with discounts on rooms that most DVCers are not utilizing since we already have our Rooms. If I didn't own DVC I would buy an AP just for the room discounts alone.

Hey Doc and Granny, you guys had me checking the newspaper there for a minute. I didnt see my name, but I did see the top side of the grass, so thats a good thing. Yall had me gone there for while ;) I think I need to check the DIS boards more often. Been a little lax in that Dept. here lately.

To add to this thread, we wouldnt have purchased PAPs had it not been for the discount. We had never gone to a waterpark and had paid cash only once for DQ. Now we have been to a waterpark twice and DQ once on those PAPs. We are getting so much more out of WDW now with those passes than before and its just one more incentive to vacation in WDW than in other places.

I think there would be some major backlash if they pulled it completely. Keep in mind that member add-on's are a big part of their sales. I think they would widdle it down first, like reducing the discount to $50. Again, I think any changes would be effective 1/1.
