Hello everyone
I'm planning our first trip to Disney. We will be there from August 7 to August 15. I have a couple of questions about bus transportation in the park. We will be staying at Pop Resort. How long will it take from the bus stop of the hotel to each of the parks? If i'm at the bus stop at 8:30 am for example. Do you have to wait a long time for the bus? Also, we have a late dinner (8 pm) at Animal Kingdom Lodge. From what I understand, it would be better to take a cab from and to our hotel?

We are checking into Pop the same day as you. the wait times for the buses very on so many factors. Busses are supposed to arrive every 15-20 minutes, though that's not always the case. I cannot comment on taking a cab because we never do that. Have a great trip. The busses are hit or miss but I had good experiences with the busses at Pop in June.

PP already addressed park buses, so I will chime in on taxis for late dinners. From Pop, you would need to transfer buses at an open theme park or at DTD in order to make the trip to/from AKL. That can take a bit of time, especially if you transfer at DTD (think 90 mins!). The $$ spent on a taxi for at least the trip back to Pop after dinner is well worth the savings in time and hassle on the buses.

First, allow up to 20 minutes wait time for the bus. You may have to wait longer, especially right around park opening, as lines can get longer than can fit on one bus. Extra buses will be dispatched, but sometimes they just can't keep up.

Once you're on the bus, travel time is about 10 minutes to DHS or Epcot, 15 minutes to AK, and 20 minutes to MK.

The general rule of thumb is to allow about 45 minutes to get from a resort to a theme park (no transfers). This allows for travel time and time to wait for the bus.

For you AKL dinner, I would strongly consider getting a taxi, at least for the return trip. You could take the bus to any open theme park or DTD and then transfer to a AKL bus, but to do that, you'll need to allow at least 75-90 minutes. A taxi will take less than 20 minutes. I would guess it would cost less than $20 plus tip to get from POP to AKL.
