Have they announced if this is permanent or how long it will last? We are going at the end of May 2019 and I'm hoping we will have a chance to experience it. Right now the calendar for it only goes out to next month. I was torn between this and trying the Wild Africa Trek...but it's $250 per person and there are 4 of us. Anyone experience the After Hours? How was it?

I went on 8/4. It wasn't nearly as empty as I had in my head it might be...based on blogs and my EMM experience...but it was still way better than doing mK during the day with the masses. I'd go again for sure if they extend.

I went 6/30, it was awesome! It was pretty empty, especially later in the evening. We got the DVC discount, it was worth $94, I'd do it again.

We went in February and loved it. It was definitely worth it! But to answer your question re whether DAH will continue in 2019, I don’t think anyone knows, or at least no one who’s at liberty to say. It’s been very popular, so that’s encouraging but not an indication it will continue.

2 I hope you can do this keep your eyes out for listing

3 I have not done Wild Africa trek so cannot commit on it but $250 is very pricey

4 yes 2x

5 one of the best things I have done at Disney very close to the thrills VIP tour

Nobody knows what the future holds, but historical event dates (and release dates) are noted on post #1 of this thread: "Official" 2018 Disney After Hours (DAH) Thread

Post #3 also has links to many, many reviews from folks who have posted in the thread.

Hope that helps.

We did it in March 2018 and July 2018 and thought it was pretty good for the money. It seemed more busy in July, but we were still able to get everything we wanted done. It's much better than standing in the hot sun and dealing with crowds. We also liked being able to just sit, eat snacks, and take in the scenery.

DAH also has more value for people on a short trip. For example, I will be in Orlando for a long weekend, and only have a few days to go to the parks. For our trip it was a few dollars cheaper to go to DAH one day, MNSSHP one day and one day at AK compared to a 3 day park ticket. For longer vacations where you can visit the parks multiple times and get cheaper prices per day (for example a 7-day ticket reduces daily park ticket to $60), DAH (at $120) is comparatively more expensive.

I wonder if this will be added (probably higher price) to hollywood studios park on certain nights after the star wars area is open.

We did DAH last week for the first time. While it's not an empty park, you can get a ton done without waiting too long for almost anything. We thought it was worth it, especially in the summer heat to be in the park at night with fewer crowds.

We did WAT several years back and LOVED it! A unique experience and one that we all enjoyed -- also totally worth it IMO. Some of the best photos of our trip, too.

Really depends on whether you're looking for more time on the things you've presumably already done, or looking for a new experience. We'd recommend both highly.

There's supposedly already a rumor that the DHS version will come back -- don't know when.

Went last weekend and the only ride with a wait longer than 5-10 minutes was 7DMT at 20 minutes. We essentially walked on to everything else. The longest lines by far were for the "free" snacks and beverages.

I assume it will stick around as long as it is more profitable than other alternatives.

As long as it keeps making Disney profitable money! They have to pay to staff the Parks, so they also have to sell a LOT of food/drinks as well as souvenirs to make it worth the investment.

The observation about it being a better value for short trips is spot-on. For those travelling on 7-10 day tickets, you lose some of the benefit in the cost structure. Basically, for a 7 day ticket, it would be like adding an additional day at full price versus the $5 (or whatever it is now) to add the 8th day on the multi-day ticket.

I am jumping in on this thread to keep from posting a new thread on a similar topic. Hope the OP doesn't mind - but I have a question for the masses who have gone to the DAH.

I am going to the Jan 19th event (as long as the lord is willing and the creek don't rise) lol. But, I am wondering if it is set up similarly to the MNSHHP or MVMCP whereas you get in a little earlier than the party time. So, if the special event starts at 8pm, could we get in as early as 7pm? I am trying to do dinner that day at Liberty Tree Tavern, and do not want to do so during the event hours obviously.

Thanks in advance.

Oh yah - I forgot, == do the Photographers stay during the event to be able to take pictures if you have the memory maker?

I'm assuming you're assuming there will be DAH on 1/19? Future DAH dates beyond September have not been announced yet.

But as to your questions...

Official stated entry by Disney is 7pm but generally speaking they have been letting people in with DAH tickets approx 6pm, in practice. The 7pm official entry (6pm in practice) is regardless of the actual time of the DAH event - meaning, DAH could start at 10pm or it could start at 8pm - the 7pm/6pm setup still applies.

It is NOT like MVMCP and MNSSHP where they historically let people in at 4pm.

PhotoPass photographers can be found on Main Street / the Hub. Often things like the Tangled Lantern photo are available too.

Hope that helps.

OMG thank you so much! It does help immensely. I am such a fool! I was looking at 2018 dates and saw January and got overly excited ha ha. I am so glad that I reduced myself to looking like the village idiot, in order to learn that it may or may not be a part of my itinerary come January. Its cruel to be able to book dining, but not know events and park hours yet. Thanks for your input. I am most excited about photo ops so I hope that Disney extends, and there is one during my stay.

Well, if the 'pattern' holds... 1/18/19 'could' be a DAH event. That would fit the 2017 and 2018 trend... but I'm obviously speculating.

Last year, the Jan-March dates were announced 9/14/2017... so if they stick to something similar this year we may know more in another month.
