We booked last week for a 7 night Oct. cruise with Dreams Unlimited (thanks, Sue Ellen!). We opted for a Category 6 stateroom, and our reservation info came back as "GTY" - meaning that we are guaranteed to have at least a cat. 6 cabin on our cruise. How long until I find out exactly which stateroom it is?

You may not find out until you get your cruise documents...which could be as close as a few day prior to your sail date. I think you can always call Disney and inquire...or have your TA do the calling...

When we did our last cruise (which was also our first)..we booked GTY...and found out the actuall room number about three week before the sail date...(with a suprise upgrade...from a cat 12gty...to a cat 10.... :goodvibes ...then to our suprise...just about a week prior to the sail date...we got some more good news with another upgrade :cool1: from the cat 10...to a cat 8 :) .

What week in October are you booked? Were booked for the Western on Oct 22 :teeth: ..if that's your week also...we have a nice group over on the cruise meet board....If that's the same week as yours...you should come on over and join us.

I have no idea why, but we got our specific cabin number the minute we booked, 11 months before our cruise. It was listed on every document we got.
It was upgraded 8 days before our cruise from category 10 to category 6.

Great news :) We too, received our assignment immediately. I wondered if that meant less chance for a surprise upgrade. Hoping for some pixie dust princess:

Not sure why you would not find out right away...I booked through AAA (6 months prior to the cruise) and my TA called me telling me what rooms were available and I was able to choose the one I wanted! We wanted a cat. 5 or 6 and a room that had the pull down bunk beds, so I was glad I had the option to choose. The cabin # is listed on all of my travel documents as well. 6 weeks and counting! :hourglass
