How long to walk from Hyatt Place Universal to IOA?

I finally broke down and booked with Hyatt Place. We will be at Universal in a few weeks and want to get to WWoHP by rope drop. We did this last year in early August but drove to the parks. I'd like to avoid the parking fees if possible this time but I don't particularly want to be exhausted when we get there if it's too far.

It's as close as you're going to get from any offsite hotel but the walk will still be at least close to 15 minutes and you have to cross the very busy Kirkman rd.I've stayed at this Hyatt Place several times but never walked to the park. The hotel is very nice but the breakfast area is a bit small.

I would take the shuttle instead of walking, its pretty close to the Main Gate but its a good walk.. First you walk across the street, thru the parking area then City Walk, I say maybe 15 to 20 min..

We liked the Hyatt when we went to Universal in 2008. The breakfast area may be small but we enjoyed the breakfast!

Does Hyatt Place even offer a shuttle? I didn't see anything about this on their website.

As for the breakfast area, I like it to go anyway. I normally walk down to the breakfast bar and load up on stuff and take it back to the room.

We walked to US/IOA several times from Hyatt Place with our 3 kids with no problem. As others have said, crossing Kirkman Road can be challenging, but after that it's a piece of cake, especially in the morning while the walkways are still shaded. If you're familiar with the parking garage at Universal, you will come up on the escalator just before Citywalk. It's not much more walking than if you park at the far end of the parking garage, except there you have moving walkways. There was a shuttle bus when we were there 2 years ago but we never used it.

We stayed there in 2009 and walked it once. It took 10-15 minutes and was not a bad walk. There was a shuttle at that time, but it would not get you there by rope drop for sure. We took a cab one day and it was like $4 one way. What days will you be there? We will be there August 10-12(Disney after that) You will definitely like HP Universal. The rooms are huge and so are the tvs;) I was hoping we'd get HP when I bid on Priceline, but we got Holiday Inn Express this time.

We'll be there August 8 and we plan to visit Universal for three days. Then we'll be hitting Disney parks. I can't wait!

I sure hope that they have a shuttle that we can maybe just take back. Riding is so nice in the evening. :)

WWoHP opens an hour early for onsite hotel guests and for guests who booked a Harry Potter package through Universal. Getting to IoA at rope drop doesn't guarantee you won't find lines at the FJ.

You can book offsite hotels, including the Hyatt Place through Universal Vacations. The pacakge includes early entry into IoA, breakfast in 3 Broomsticks and park admission. Price it out. You probably got a good rate on the hotel, the deal will probably cost more then what you're paying but it might be worth it.

They had 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening when I was there. We walked a few times in the morning and then took the shuttle or cab back a few days. We drove and parked the others. I got APs this year, so we will have free parking after our first visit(to get them validated). I may try to take the shuttle the first day, so we don't have to pay for parking at all. If you are going back next year, the APs are cheaper than 2 3 day tickets and you get discounts and free parking. We won't renew it next year. Instead, we will wait until our 2013 trip and get one for 2013-14.
