Hey all! :bounce: My first post on this board!! Very happy to be here! I've been to DL twice, once when I was 6 and once when I was 11... and I've been aspiring to go back ever since! Planning to go with DB (dear boyfriend ;)) in May 2012!

Now onto the real meat of my question!! I am trying to give my boyfriend, who's never been to DL, an idea of what it's like and the size of it... and try as I might (think endless re-worded Google searches) I can't find something as simple as how long it takes to walk across Disneyland.

I'm wondering about the length of time it takes to walk from say, the entrance to the back of Toontown, and from about Critter Country to the far side of Tomorrow Land... presuming average crowds, normal walking speed, and no real stops... just walking straight from one side to the other!

Thanks to anybody who can help me figure this one out!! :lovestruc

I know that when we entered from about midway on mainstreet (lined up for opening) it took us about 12 minutes to walk back to Toontown for the MTTMM.

It's really not far so I would say 15 minutes from Gate to the back, or Frontierland to Tomorrowland. But for the most part you aren't really walking, because you are looking at stuff. Only in the morning are you making a trek across the park to this attraction or that.

From the farthest end of Toontown to the farthest end of Paradise Pier in California Adventure is something like 0.8 miles. Obviously you can't just take a straight line, but most people can walk 0.8 miles in 20 minutes or less.

If you walk fast and there are no people in your way :rotfl: then I'd say 10-12 minutes across Disneyland either way. My camera's timestamps were not set up correctly but the total minutes would still be right, so here are our numbers from 12/10/09:

0:00 -waiting at the entrance (I have no idea how long we waited there before the next picture; obiviously no more than 4 minutes!)
0:04 - took a picture of the Main Street tree (I believe that area is called "Town Square"?)
0:07 - took a close-up of the castle
0:10 - took a picture of the It's a Small World facade
0:13 - comfortably seated in our boat

Toontown is a little past Small World.

So if there are NO crowds and you were just walking at a fast clip, I'd put the number from the entrance gates to Toontown at something like 10 minutes. Obviously if you are not walking quickly, and/or with crowds, parades, etc. it will take longer--with average crowds and no parade, I'd say 15 minutes is probably about right.

This whole path is a 5K (about 3.1 miles).

He's a guy so you have to translate into guy units. Disneyland is about 7 football fields both ways. California Adventure is a bit smaller but the paths are less direct. Traveling at a decent walking pace (not moseying, not power-walking), 10-15 minutes is about right to get from the entrance to the deepest part of either park depending on traffic. Same going from one side to the other.

My DH sizes it up that way too:thumbsup2

The funny thing is I just skimmed Eeee-va's message and thought it said 0.8 miles was the distance across just Disneyland. I thought that sounded reasonable until I translated. "There's no way it's 14 football fields across." Then I read the message more closely.

:rotfl:Sadly my profile isn't completely updated yet, but I'm from Canada so you're gonna have to translate that into hockey rinks for me!!

Heehehe but I think that you have all given me great info!! So helpful, thank you!! It's been so long since I've been that I couldn't really remember.

Yeesh even though it's well over a year and a half until I go, I'm still bouncing in my seat thinking about it! :bounce:

And if you're going from one side the park to the other, the train is a great way to get there as well!

not very long..it's not like WDW where it takes a day and half to get to one land!! lol, :lmao:
