How long to wait for membership card?

Our deed was filed on 9/20 and we have since been able to access our account online thanks to a kind cast member but we still have not received anything in the mail from DVC. No welcome letter/packet or membership card. How long should I continue to wait before calling to request they mail it again? Is there anything other than the membership card that is of importance that I need to make sure I get as well?

Did you buy direct? I ask because I don't think resale gets membership cards anymore.

When we were down this past summer, my wife forgot her card. The DVC CM said that they were phasing the physical cards out and showed her how to pull it up on her phone.

Not if either if these two tidbits above are true or just rumor.

Our guide told us that we needed to go on the website and specifically order a card. Did so before we even finalized closing (as we bought direct), and didn't get the cards for about 4-6 weeks (website says 6-8 when you order).

Interesting! we bought resale. I thought you needed a card to access certain things in Disney. They still were supposed to send us our member ID information. Although a cast member gave that to us I don't know if anything else important was in there.

Thanks I'll have to check that out if it still doesn't come. I'll give t a bit longer if it said 6-8 weeks on there.

I recently closed on a resale deed, we also called and got our member number and were able to log on. I was able to download the digital membership card from there. A few days ago the letter arrived and it certainly wasn't a "welcome home" packet by any means. A regular letter with our member number and instructions to call MS to get an activation code. No card, no information about DVC. I think that is all resale members get.

Direct buyers are customers of Disney so DVD sends out info, welcomes and a tote bag. Resale buyers are not Disney customers so DVD wouldn't send you anything and DVC just gives you your number.

Direct buyers receive a physical blue ID card for their benefits, resale buyers can access their white ID card that only allows them access to TOTWL.

We were told that they no longer send welcome packets to resale buyers. This was shortly after the 4/4 benefits change.

We bought direct July 31, received our membership card middle of October .

We bought a resale last oct. never got a card even though they said we would. We later added 25pts direct in may and got a card and welcome tote I think in a couple of days.

If you bought resale, you are not going to get a card. The main idea behind the 4/4 benefits change was that new resale buyers would not receive cards, which in turn would preclude them from receiving discounts, etc. that would go with the card.

Ok so I understand there is no card for resale buyers but is there something else important I should have received?

Also, how does one access the lounge or community hall without a card? Do you just give them your membership number?

Thanks!

You can download the white member card from your DVC account. You will need it for TOTWL but not the halls.

A couple magnets & the points book. They also sent me some kind of paperwork for AKV... We own at SSR... They sent it 4 months after closing when I called for the umpteenth time about our missing cards & mentioned we hadn't received a welcome pkg. Buy a decal off Esty - not likely to be stolen or eat the paint off your vehicle.
