We have 7:10am ADR at Chef Mickey's. I am hoping we are done breakfast by about 8:45am (is this possible?). Should we walk from the CR to the MK or should we take the monorail? How long will the fastest method take? Will we be heading for the main gate? I haven't been to the MK since I was 10 (1990), so I'm basically a newbie. Thanks!

Walking will probably be faster at park opening time. I believe it is about 10 minutes or less. If you were going to take monorail, you'd have to wait for the monorail board and ride the long way around and 3 addtl stops before you get there. That would take much longer. I think with a 7:10ADR you should be all done with breakfast by 8:15 or a little later if you have a wait. We never take more than an hour at any restaurant, it just depends if you are seated right away, which that early in the AM I dont see why you wouldnt.

I agree with the PP. We walked it when we were there and we beat the monorail with time to spare.

You walk to the monorail, wait for it, board it, ride to TTC. Unload and load. Polynesian - Unload and Load. Grand Floridian - Unload and Load. MK - unload, walk down the ramp, through bag check and to the gate.

Walk to the elevator, ride down, walk across the parking lot, cross the street, walk past the bus stops, through bag check and to the gate.

part of CM usually is getting to see all of the characters. It is a fairly large restaurant, there are breaks for the napkin parades and the characters do spend some time at each table. In the middle of service it can take 75 - 90 minutes to see them all. Your ADR is one of the first so I think you should have no problem being done within 60 -75 minutes.

Definitely walk to the MK. The resort monorail will have to make several stops. The walk is 8 - 10 minutes at most. We stayed at the Contemporary when my wife was very pregnant just because of the short walk and we did use it a few times when the Disney transit system was backed up.

Thanks a lot for the helpful answers. Now I just hope we'll be able to get from WL to the restaurant in time for the 7:10am reservation! I'm told the ferry starts running at 6:45am and we should have plenty of time. I hope so!

it is just a 5 min walk to the MK from CR. You are much better off just walking since the monorail can take you some time since you have to wait for it to arrive and the make all the stops. the MK is the last stop from the CD so it could take 15-20 mins by the time it is all said and done

We made a 7:15am ADR at Chef Mickey's from WL -- you should be good. And I echo what PPs have said... I'd expect to be done by 8:15am or so, and would recommend the ~5-10min walk to MK. :thumbsup2

Make sure you are there for that first ferry! Be first in line if you can manage it. You might not make it if you miss the first ferry. But there are probably not going to be too many people taking the ferry at 6:45.

Important question, what resort are you staying at? As long as you didn't drive a car and park at CR for your meal while not actually staying there, you can walk over. I'd walk given the choice each time. The monorail can be very time consuming comparatively. You mentioned you were a newb so I wasn't sure if you knew that you couldn't park there and leave your car beyond a few hours. ;)Oh yeah, your original Q was about time. LOL Don't forget time to get through security. I wasn't sure exactly what you were needing the time for so just in case, the walk may be 5-10 minutes but getting through the gates can be another matter given a zillion factors.
