How long to buy-in at BCV through DVC? **Awesome Update**

To those of you who have recently bought in at BCV through DVC how long did you have to wait? Anybody on waitlist to buy-in how long have you been there? I saw the thread for add-ons but was curious about first timers. Anyone care to share your experience, I'm thinking of joining the buy-in wait list. Tell me all about it.

I'm not sure how long the wait is, but it must be a while. It seems all the other resorts can get you inventory very quickly. You could ask how long it has been taking for the waitlist to go through at ms. Goodluck.

Dec UY, 1 day shy of 7 months, only 73 points were available.

Sep UY, still on waitlist, now > 11 months.

Might they then give me different use years? I assumed they'd wait until they could fill my entire request all at once, is that not the case? If you're not yet a DVC member, then you have to purchase a minimum of 150 points if you're buying directly from Disney. So, they would have to at least 150 BCV points in the same use year available for you to purchase. You could not, as a nonmember, buy in at 60 points if that is all they had and wait for the rest of the points to become available, and they would not combine points from different use years to pull together the minimum 150 points needed.

Once you are a member, then you can purchase an add-on of as few as 25 points, again in the same use year as your (or one of your) existing contract(s).

The only way DVC will sell you a different use year is if you purchase a whole new contract of at least 150 points.

Edited to add: If you purchase a resale contract, the 150-point minimum does not apply. The smallest resale contract you will see will be 25 points and if you were lucky enough to get it without Disney exercising ROFR, you could become a DVC member with as few as 25 points. If you want to purchase points at BCV and you don't want to wait forever for DVC to have 150 points left over after fulfilling all the current members waiting to add on, consider buying a resale contract. I am not sure how the waitlist works, but, I would think that since you are buying in new, you could ask for any use year, and have a shorter wait time since you don't have to WAIT for a certain use year points to become available. But, with BCV, anything goes. I intitially wanted BCV but bought BWV, I really didn't want to wait and wanted Disney financing. The location is just as great and I got the standard view studio option which I will use quite often. Just a thought!

Have you heard of anyone actually getting a 25 point contract through ROFR recently? I can't find any case of it mentioned on here or Intercot.

I meant that it would be a matter of how far down the waitlist you are. But now that you ask, I'm really not sure whether both members and nonmembers are all on the same waitlist or whether existing members looking to add on have priority over nonmembers looking to buy in. But as you can see from what Greenban posted, it can be a long wait for BCV points, even for members.

Just call your guide on Monday and see what he/she thinks your chances are. It never hurts to ask.

I don't think that is the case. Current members can get a new contract for any UY. But most people like to get their same UY because it is easier to track points and use them... Especially if they already own at the same resort.

No, though I have only started monitoring the ROFR thread again very recently. But, that's precisely why I said you would have to be lucky to get it without Disney exercising ROFR.

If a current member wants to add on to an existing contract, they have to purchase points in the same use year as that contract. They can add on as few as 25 points.

Current members also have the option to purchase a new contract with a different use year. In that case, they have to purchase a minimum of 150 points.

If there is no one waiting for, say, Oct UY points and Disney happens to have 150 of them in their inventory, they should be up for grabs. I don't think that's very likely, but you never know!

But let's say your guide tells you that no one is currently waiting for Oct UY points and they currently have 50 in inventory. You need at least 150 so your guide puts your name on the waitlist. Some time later a member calls his/her guide to add on 50 Oct UY BCV points. I doubt Disney would hold those 50 points for you while they wait for another 100 points to come in if they have a member interested in purchasing those 50 points. So you could be first on the wait list and still wait a long time to get what you need for your initial purchase.

How does DVC get points back into their inventory, is this only accomplished through the ROFR process? Is that just the risk people are willing to take buying resale from someone besides DVC direct?

I am not sure that scenario works exactly like that. I would ask my guide how the waitlist works. But it makes sense that if you have no preference for use year, you have a place on all the waitlists for all use years, and that increases your chances. If you have an October use year and want to add on less than 150, then you are on one waitlist for October points only.

How does Disney get points? I would think that ROFR and foreclosure would be two large sources. Divorce, bankruptcies, and so forth would bring in some points too. But I have no personal knowledge.

Bottom line: If you want BCV, and will use that 11 month advantage there, then by all means, call and get on the waitlist. You may have a long wait. You may get your points quickly. In the end, you will purchase the contract you want. That is what really matters.

This is correct. I told my guide that 1 would consider any amount of points up to 500. 73 was all they had, and no more have come in thier, although I may have been moved back to the bottom of the list again. Some members have gotten their points within days, but I doub't that a 150 BCV pointer is just sitting their available. (But it never hurts to try!)

I have 3 Master Contracts, so I have Dec, Sep and April UYs.

(I got the different dates because all of my original purchases were via the Time Share Store (TSS), our sponsor above. I highly recommend them, and I have always been very well treated by Jason, the manager!)

Well, I called my guide and got on the waitlist for all possible UY months. Each month has its own waitlist and the lists are first come - first served. The particular waitlist she was looking at had about 80 people on it (I don't know which month that was for). Hopefully by being a newbie open to any UY I'll get something a little quicker. Still, I've tried to prepare myself mentally for a LONG wait. Wish me luck!
