Each piece is about one pound, 1" thick.

Would like to get it to medium?

With all the cooking I do, I should know this, but this isn't something I'm used to doing.

Thanks.

Sorry... I can't help. I've never broiled a steak; I only cook steaks on the grill. Are they good broiled?

Depends on how close your pan is to the broiler. I only broil when the weather is too wild to grill, but it seems like it takes a little less time than it takes on the grill. (I'm sure that was absolutely no help at all as I reread it.)

Broil? NO way BBQ man!!!
I would do it in a grill pan before the broiler. In there I would do about 6 minutes a side on high- but that is for med rare.

I'm not a fan of broiled steak - my mom killed many a cow with that cooking meathod and turned them into leather. :rotfl2:
But good luck and tell us how it turns out.

I would grill too, but my wife likes broiled, and I'm cooking for her..... ( and she hates it cooked it a pan... ;) )

Is that a real inch thick? Or a "man's" inch (we know objects appear closer....)

Really an inch ~ about 7 minutes each side then let it sit for about 5 minutes before you serve or cut it

Blech... mediocre at best. I think the steak didn't have enough fat. It dried out some....

I do much better on the grill! Or smoking them in my smoker, and finishing on the grill...

I thought your thread said 'boil a steak' at first :scared:

My old roommate used to do that to all his meat, including steak. It just looked nasty.

OP, Hope your steaks were ok broiled. I prefer mine in a pan cooked with a little olive oil.

ITA. My parents always broiled a steak. When I meet DH he would pan fry them. They are way better this way. Then when you take the steak out throw in mushrooms & deglaze the pan with them cooking. It is fantastic!
