How long to allow for a midday break at the resort ?

When the kids were little we used to do a 2 hour break from the time we got to the resort. That gave us time for swimming and time for a nap. While the kids were napping, I would be getting ready to head on out again.

For us, the transportation to and from our resort is part of the break. It just gets you out of the over stimulation of the park. We try to plan for a couple of hours in the room... sometimes three if we are swimming... but if we only have an hour to chill in the room, that's enough for us.

I agree with PP that you don't have quite enough time scheduled.

Your lunch ADR is at 1:00. I think you'll be pressed to get out of BOG in under 45 minutes, then there's travel time back to the Polynesian. I doubt you'll hit the pool by 2:00.
No our lunch ADR is at 11:00. I'm figuring we will make it to the pool by 1:00 and our dinner reservation is at 4:00 at our resort. I'm guessing we will have 2 hours for free time swimming and resting before we have to get ready for dinner.

Sorry that my eyes misread your OP! Two hours is enough time for a swim. :)

I think you need at least 3 hours. By the time you get into the hotel, change, go to the pool, stop for drinks, swim, go back, shower/change and get transportation back to the parks, you need at least 3 hours. We usually nap (one of my favorite things to do at Disney!) and I would say we average 3-4 hours in the afternoon.
Our lunch is at BOG at 11:00 am, we plan to leave the park around 12:00. Last couple of times we ate lunch at BOG it only took us about 30 or 45 minutes.
We hope to be at the Poly pool by 1:00. We have no little ones so it wont take long to change to get to the pool.
Then we are eating at Ohana at our resort so we only have a short walk to it.

We average 3-4 hours as adults. 4 hours is needed for the DC really. You have to factor in travel time (both ways), plus nap time and swim time when we have the DC.

We go in August and always do a midday break. My kids love the pool and the pool is a big part of our vacation. Not just the parks.

We do RD or AM EMH, do early lunch (QS) around 11ish, leave the park and are at the pool by 1230/1 pm. We then head back to the room by 3:30-4ish to get ready to head back out. I usually head to the room first and get ready and then the kids come about 30 minutes later. We are usually at dinner or our PM park by 5 pm.

True :) I kind wondered how much others take for their breaks. I'm not sure how much time we will need to feel refreshed. We have taken a midday break one other time a few years back but I cant remember how long we took.

Our breaks are typically at least 4-5 hours. DD is always ready to go back to the resort and the pool by noon or earlier. When we have ADRs they are usually somewhere between 6:30-8:00. That gives us enough time to still have a nice break even if we end up staying at the park longer than usual. But, we have taken shorter breaks, I think even 1-2 hours is enough to feel refreshed.

I would like to add we also don't schedule the breaks but they always happen around the same times. There have been times we stay a bit longer and don't leave until 1 if there's something we really want to ride.

I wouldn't say we schedule out break times, but we do take them. I have done all day in the park and it just does not work for me or the rest of the family. We tend to get to the park around rope drop and get a lot done in those first few hours. We eat an early lunch or will eat back at the room (DVC) We leave the park no later that 12:30pm or 1:00pm. We hang by the pool till 4:00pm or so and then head up to the room to shower. It is so refreshing taking that break time. We make our dinner ADRs for 6:00pm so we do not feel rushed but can still catch nighttime entertainment. We tend to stay at BCV so we can walk to two parks which helps with the transportation issue.

For people with military precision planning we're relatively flexible. We'll head out of the park as soon as we feel ready, we don't always go back to the hotel straight away, we may grab lunch/ play some golf or go to the shops. We don't generally head back out again until dinner which ranges from 5-7, if we're not having a TS dinner then I'd say we'd nip back out around 6.

We also take a break every day, usually 4 hours.

I agree with the above posters that are flexible. I will normally plan a sit down lunch or dinner and we just take our break around that.

Down time is so important to our family, even touring with teens, adult kids and just DH and I. Our bodies, feet and minds need a reprieve from the heat and touring.

We also really like to explore the resort and the pool.

I'm thinking with the early closing of the parks except Pandora it will cut the evening touring down after our break :(. So frustrating because we love the parks at night.
