How long should I wait to hear from owner?

We have a home booked in WH for October for 8 nights. I emailed last week to confirm our dates so that I can make sure everything thing is good to go. I never heard from her. Then I emailed her Tuesday asking the same thing, to confirm our dates. Still - nothing. I am starting to get a little nervous as when I was booking the house she emailed me back really quickly.

She does have a phone number, but she is overseas. What would you do? I feel like I should contact paypal soon or something to get my deposit back from her so I can start looking for a new house.

She may be on vacation herself, so I would give her a little more time. Since your trip is not until October, another week shouldn't make a big difference in your securing another rental home. Was there a refund policy when you paid your deposit? I know mine was refundable if I cancelled at least 60 days out. If that's the case, and you're really turned off, you could go ahead and book another place and then cancel the current one.

Two years ago I was dealing with a woman who had a place for sale in Celebration who lived out of the country. I made a cash offer, pretty much what she was asking, it was a mess. It never went through because she made herself completely unavailable to my agent or the bank and her agent was clueless, living in Miami.

I'd be careful. If she's not responding I'd start working on Plan B.

Did you have luck reaching your person? I think if you paid by credit card with paypal you can get your money back by going through your bank

I did finally hear back from her. Turns out she changed her email and the only way I knew this was because I looked at her listing on windsorhillsrent.com and it showed a different address.

I am hoping that everything goes smooth from here. I paid my final balance a week ago and have not heard a word from her since. I emailed today asking if she got the payment and when I could expect my booking documents, address for the house and code to get in.

We went through that once too.......I was trying not to pester and stay polite.......in the end I realized I should have kept bugging much sooner.....The owner of the villa 2 weeks before we are to leave admits that the villa was actually double booked...he said that management company booked someone else for same time frame in "our" house......owner then says he has another house that will be much better......the same house he tried to convince me to rent earlier on in the inquiry process.....it had one less bathroom and living room... which was no good for us.......so I have never fully believed him that the house was really double booked and that this was all a big misunderstanding......in the end it was 2 days before leaving we got the key code and it was the worst stocked house we have ever been in and I hated having people have to come in our bedroom to use the bathroom........I should have listened to instinct early on with the guy and/or kept bugging much much earlier why we did not even have address so I could have changed houses rather than renting the other house he had........he also refused to refund any money even though the second house was smaller...... So the lesson I learned is bug bug bug it is a lot of money and usually our one and only vacation for the year!
