How long should I plan to stay at Downtown Disney?

I thought it would be just an evening type thing, but read on here some make a day out of it!

Well, it really depends on how much you enjoy browsing and shopping. We have spent up to 4 hours there, including a meal, but usually it is more along the lines of 2 or 3 hours for us, especially now that we get take out from Earl of Sandwich and enjoy eating the sandwiches in our room.

How much do you like to shop, do you plan to go to Pleasure Island, Disney Quest etc, etc.

For us, when we go in the off times of year when parks close early, we just head to DTD. We spend a good deal of time there. I like to hit it on our first day and on a day somewhere in the middle of the trip and then on the last day. There's always something going on and lots of things to see and do.

Depends on what you're interested in, how old your kids (if any) are, etc. We have young kids (ages 6 and 3), and we usually just make a late afternoon/evening out of it. We stay in the Marketplace area, take in a few shops, eat dinner. Takes us about 4 hours. I would just look at the Disney's website or this one http://allearsnet.com/btp/downtown.htm and figure out first what you're interested in seeing. I could spend hours in some of the shops, but have to make it quick with the kids.

We usually do it on our last day, after checking out of the hotel. The kids like playing with the Lego stuff, we eat lunch (Earl of Sandwich rocks!--and get their Kona coffee if you like coffee), have a sundae at Ghiradelli. Note: RIDE THE MOUSE BOATS! We had so much fun renting them for an hour. That should cover 3-4 hours.

In my case, the same amount of time I would spend at any shopping center. Some of the merchandise is more interesting so you will browse longer but to me, a store's a store!

I love shopping so I think I may be at downtown disney for a couple of hours when I go.:D

DTD is pretty big. Just the walking takes quite a bit of time. We spend more time at the area that used to be known as the Marketplace, so we don't usually do much at the shops at the West End. Shopping is usually about a two hour affair. Add 60-90 minutes if you are planning to eat there.:earsboy:

I have heard that there is a merry go round in Marketplace? Can anybody confirm this? If so, how much does it cost?
Does anyone know where I could find a menu from Earls in DTD? Is it in Marketplace???

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

There is a carousel there; my son loves carousels, so when he saw it he had to ride it. My husband says it was $2 to ride, with no charge for an adult supervising a child.

Yep. A merry go round and a small train ride. My 3 year old liked these as much as rides at MK!

Here is a link to Earls menu..

I haven't eaten there yet, but read somewhere that they do not list the kids menu, but have these items available on request.
