we have 10:50 am dining reserv at chef mickeys in contemporary. MK opens at 9am. is it worth it to go to MK for an hour and take the mono over to contemp? how long will it take via mono from MK to Contemp?

Personally, I wouldn't go to MK beforehand if I had a reservation at the time you mentioned. By the time you get through the turnstiles and head up main street you might have the chance to do one or two attractions before you have to turn around and head back out. It usually only takes 2-3 minutes of travel time on the monorail from MK to the Contemporary. However, it depends how long you have to wait for one to show up. They are usually running frequently at that time of day. I don't know if you are aware, but you can walk from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary. That is about a 10 minute walk. If it was me, I would walk and avoid having to line up and wait on a monorail.

I would walk also. Just because it is a 5 minute trip does not mean it will take 5 minutes. The Monorails are aging and have been having more than expected breakdowns.

I wouldn't see any problem leaving from where you are in the MK at around 10:10 (as long as you are not in the very back of the park) and walking to Chef Mickey's with no problem.

I disagree - I would definitely go to MK (if I could be there at opening) and knock out Fantasyland attractions or Tomorrowland. Wait until the last minute and grab a FP for after breakfast if the timing is right and then leave MK. I however would walk over to the Contemporary because I think it just makes sense but the monorail doesn't take long at all.

You should have plenty of time to be at MK for a 9am park open and then leave around 10:20 or so to go to CR for your ADR. :)

would go eat first then go to MK as monorail is longer to walk to it than to just walk over to contemporary from MK

We're rope droppers and would definitely hit the MK at 9. Even if you had to start walking toward the park exit at 10am, you'd get so much done in that first hour that it would be worth it.

DEFINITELY walk if you do decide to pop into MK, because you'll likely wind up pressed for time and walking is much faster than the monorail.

I haven't done it myself, but I agree with the others, it doesn't make much sense to take the monorail to CR in this situation.

I would definitely hit up the MK for that first hour before heading over to CR.
