How long is your commute?

25 minutes, straight up the highway, so not much stress. I've come to really appreciate that time to get my "gears" switched from home to office and back again.

15-20 minutes (25 for really bad traffic). All in town driving and about 9-10 miles away :)

Hey ChefBilly...I have almost the same commute! I used to take 93 out of Southern NH, but I switched to 95 because it's more lanes. Someone will hang it up on 93 and then we all have to sit there because it's only 2 lanes. I have to pay a .50 toll, but 95 is soooo much better than 93. I also have the trek down 128 south, which, these past few days, has been GREAT! It takes me an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the traffic. I actually enjoy my time in the car - Blute & Ozone in the morning and Howie Carr in the evening. As someone who took the train to school for many years, I love the car. Nobody is touching me. Nobody in the car smells. Nobody in the car is trying to talk loud enough for their family at home to hear them. Of course, now I have to deal with the nut-jobs in the car, but at least I can get away from them. Not possible on a crowded train!

Take the job you like and enjoy your alone time in your car. Where else can you sing at the top of your lungs???

5 minutes - simply unheard of in the D.C. area. :)

About 90 mins. each way. Doing it for 13 years now. You get used to it but it is never fun.

Yeah, Snoops got that right. 5 minutes doesn't even get you down the block in dc!!!!

I'm an hour and a quarter, with school drop-off. Car door to office door, that is. Got into a discussion with a guy about his 30 minute commute from somewhere it's NOT 30 minutes from. He finally admitted that it was his train time. Of course, he still has to get to the train, go from the train to metro, then walk 3 blocks.....

Anyway, I don't do it because I love my work, but I do love my compensation package (pays for those disney trips, among other stuff), and the four weeks vaca. Golden handcuffs.

from door to door it's between 1-2 hours one way (depending on traffic, weather, accidents, etc.)

do i look forward to it? no. but it's not something i really have a choice of. i see it as a necessary evil, like cleaning the house or doing other chores. you might not like to do it, but it has to be done.

we can't afford to live closer to our jobs.

20-30 minutes, depending on traffic and the time of day. With an accident, it can be upwards of an hour or more.

My commute is about 1.5 hours each way. If you include daycare drop off and pickup it's more like 2 hours each way ...
