How long is too long at WDW?

I hear you, but we love WDW and it's so much more than an amusement park to us. The rides aren't even our favorite part of WDW.
We stayed 15 days I think last summer, met a family staying for a month and were so jealous. We wished we could do that and would if it wasn't for our pets.
Coming from the UK, not to mention OP is coming in the fall when the heat isn't excruciating like summer, I'd say hell yeah!

Exactly! I can only imagine returning "home" after a day trip to Tampa or Sarasota or Cape Canaveral.

7 nights is enough for us. We've arrived a couple of days early for a recent 7 night trip (got a hotel nearby) thinking we would enjoy staying longer but found that it got to be too long. We then shortened our next trip by a few nights after that to stick at the 7 nights.

We spend between 4 days to 2 weeks there. However the longer trips are not exclusively disney. For example-we are going for 2 weeks in June-5 days onsite, 3-4 days at beach (VRBO), with rest of time in our timeshare resort. And our onsite stay this time is a cabin-more room lol!

My question is-where are you staying? There is NO way we could spend more than a few days in a hotel room (5-6 days is MAX). Our longer trips, with family, are split on/offsite with the the longer part offsite in a comfortable 2 bedroom/2bath condo resort. Eating out or being dependent on food service place for every meal gets real old, real fast.

We are ready to come home after 2 weeks as well...but if you are planning on exploring other parts of florida and are comfortable where you are staying-go for the extra week!

After 10 nights at a resort with a "room", we are ready to go home. However, several years ago we were able to do 37 days at Ft. Wilderness in our motorhome. Could have stayed longer. We had our own bed, bathroom, kitchen, etc., and were able to eat about half our meals there. Makes a big difference!

The hard part about this is you’ve never been. You may find it magical the entire time. You may really enjoy the first few weeks, then find you’ve done everything, and are having a hard time not getting bored. You may show up and find it’s no where near the hype, and you are good to go after a few days.

The good news is that if you tire of Disney or the Orlando area there is a ton to do in Florida and the south. With a few extra weeks you can head to Key West, Miami, Naples, the Everglades...or north to Savannah, the beach at Hilton Head, Atlanta, or even New Orleans. There is nature and cities and history.

As for personally, I live an hour outside of Orlando and spent my 5 week vacation last year in Scotland and London.

Great post! I'm jealous of your 15 days!

You're asking that question to the wrong group of people. :rotfl:

But honestly, if I had the money and could take that much time off of work all at once, I would do 5 weeks in a heartbeat. There is so much to do in WDW and the Orlando area that you would not get bored, that's for sure. And think of how leisurely a pace you could take knowing that you have plenty of time to take in all the sites you want. I say go for it!

I don't know. I haven't been there long enough to find out yet. I have never stayed beyond wanting to stay more. Our shortest trip was 8 days and normal is 12 - 14. We typically are okay with leaving, but would love to stay. The longer trips allow us to visit at a more leisurely pace and absorb more atmosphere.

Why does everyone always leave out SeaWorld? It's a great park too! A Disney Cruise is a good idea to break up the middle of the trip though

I always say the same thing -- especially during the holidays - we are Disney fanatics, like most here :)) ...
But, for our money NOTHING beats SW during the holidays ! The music and decorations ( and shows) are amazing !

Haha...so true!

Wow..
I didn't know that. That's something I'd like to check out sometime!

Honestly --- And again, we are true Disney fanatics - (AP holders for years) but really -- if you want the true sense of holidays- SW is the place --- If you ever get a chance , check out " O Wondrous Night" ( there are probably ton of videos online ) - one of the SW holiday shows - it's breathtaking !

What hotel are you staying at? If you're not staying at a value already, I highly recommend giving any of the All Stars a shot your last week to save on $$. Another option you might consider is ordering groceries and having simpler meals such as PB&J sandwiches, oatmeal, granola bars, etc.

Five weeks would not be too long for me, but over a week would do my husband in. LOL I am not sure I would extend a week just to do the party. I do love the parties, but that's a lot of extra expense/time for a party night.

I just cant imagine going to another country and staying in one spot. I always have to see as many regions as I can squeeze in! Still, there is a lot to do in Florida and I know you are going to have a great time.

I know a lot of people on the forum are obsessed with Disney and so am I mostly but there's no way I can imagine spending 5 weeks there. That sounds like a nightmare to me. There's other stuff to do in Florida, sure, but none of that really interests me and I hate the weather. I think 2 weeks top for me and that may be pushing it a bit.

This. Some people think that they will love Disney and simply do not. No way to be sure until you are there. But if you love it and are used to long vacations, 5 weeks would not be too long given the things to do in the area. Between Orlando , Cocoa Beach and Tampa/St. Pete there is enough to do to keep most people busy for months. But I would not do WDW for 5 weeks straight without mixing in some of these other things. We spent about 9 weeks in the area last year. Of that time, we spent maybe 40 days in WDW parks, spread out.
