I was just wondering how long MS (the ride part) lasts, and especially how the take-off lasts. I heard that you should be fine if you can make it through the take-off, so I would like to know how survivable it is. I have never had a problem with motion sickness before, but wouldn't want MS to be the first time and ruin my Epcot trip. I'm more concerned with duration than intensity, but if you have any comments about the intensity, please let me hear them.

MS takes 5 minutes plus the pre-show. I'm really not sure how long take-off is but if you are concerned at all about motion sickness, avoid this attraction unless you have had success with motion sickness medication.

M:S is about the same in time as Star Tours, which is about 2 minutes. The takeoff is only about 30 seconds.

MS lasts about 4-5 minutes with the take off about 20-30 seconds. If you just watch the screen and try to relax it is really cool how it totally feels like you are taking off. Once you break through the atmosphere it sort of feels like you are floating...again really cool. I kept reaching my hand over to my DD(7) and asking if she was doing ok...she loved it!! It is very important to keep your eyes on the screen in front of you and not to close your eyes or look at the people next to you. We are excited to do it again!!

With all that said...I took a Bonine(?same as Dramamine I think) in the morning and gave my DD(7) half of one too. I know that this was ok for her as we used these on the cruise last year too. We were both fine but didn't feel the need to do it again that same day...go figure?!?!?

I was worrying about this ride but my ds wanted to ride it very much. Someone suggested taking a motion sickness pill the night before so that you would not be affected by the drowziness (which I do no matter what kind of motion sickness pill I take). I took a pill the night before, got a fast pass so that I would just walk on the ride and not wait in anticipation in line, gave instructions to my ds on what to do if I got sick, got into the "capsule" and held a barf bag the whole time and tried to relax. It is imperative that you keep looking at the screen, DO NOT LOOK AWAY FROM THE SCREEN OR TURN YOUR HEAD IN ANYWAY OR CLOSE YOUR EYES. I was fine. I went again. Someone also posted that it might be better to ride in the evening so if you get sick your day is not completely ruined. I have heard that people who have motion sickness don't get sick and people who have never gotten motion sick, have on this ride. It is a relatively short time that you are in the capsule.

Just my 2 cents - for me the worst part is the landing, not the takeoff. I LOVED the takeoff, but the rough landing is what gets my stomach upset, even with Bonine. However, it's right at the end, so I can tough it out until I can get out.

I second the landing part. If the ride were 10-15 seconds shorter I wouldn't have felt dizzy at all. The bumpy landing however got me a LITTLE queasy. I'll still ride again - maybe we'll get a better pilot who can land a little better! :earboy2:

I've never had the least bit of motion sickness. Has anyone who doesn't get motion sickness had a problem with the ride?

Never had a problem w/ motion sickness anywhere else, so I didn't worry about it on MS, either. My wife opted out, but afte making SURE, my 4 Yr old decided to go (right at 44 inches). We were only 2 in our capsule, so I really talked him through it, and kept pointing at things to incourage him to look straight ahead and keep his head back. We both left with huge smiles on faces and high fiving the whole way out!!

I'd say no worries, but don't hold it against me if you hurl.

How long is it?

Too long!!! :crazy2:

LOL. My response is the opposite!

How long is Mission: Space?

Not long enough!!

I've never felt even remotely sick after riding.

I never get motion sickness, unless I'm pregnant. I was fine on MS. The only thing that bothered me is I'm a little claustrophobic and it's very tight quarters in there. I think what saved me is the cool air that blows onto your face.
