How long from TTC to MK before opening?

We're going in late March and staying off prop; went last year same time but stayed at CSR so we took the bus to MK. I'm just wondering how much of a nightmare it is/how long it takes to get to the gate at opening (we're early risers lol - have an 8m old DD who is our alarm clock) if we drive and park at TTC. Also, any strategic difference between taking the boat v. the monorail? Are there shuttle things (those long golf carts) as at the other resorts or is it all boat/monorail?

Thanks!

As far as I know, the shuttle trams are only at MGM and Epcot. I don't believe they have those at Magic Kingdom, since the parking is across a body of water.

I'd say go for the boat. It's MUCH bigger, can carry way more people and they run relatively regularly. But if there's a short line at the monorail, jump on it.

The trams are used at the TTC to take you to the boat or monorail. Of course, if you park close enough you won't need to use a tram. Please take note of where you parked as the lot is HUGE. This will save you a problem when you return later in the day.
I also agree that the boat holds a lot more people so it's probably easier than the monorail.

If you are there early in the morning, the monorail will be much faster. We always get to the parks at least 15 minutes before they open, and the monorail has never been crowded at that time of morning. We only use the boat when the monorail is very crowded (like at park closing) because the monorail gets you there faster. Don't worry that it will be a hassle early in the morning, that's the best time of day at WDW. :thumbsup2

Just returned always stay on site but not this time. We arrived 25 min early and rode the monarail pretty empty to park return was crazy on monorail. :thumbsup2

Poly and Grand Floridian (in addition to the "Resort Monorail" service) also offer "boat transportation" to/from the MK (very small craft that look somewhat like the Jungle Cruise boats.)

Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge offer boat transportation to/from MK (boats are smaller than, but similar to the "Friendships" that operate at and near Epcot.)

TTC-to/from MK for "off-property" guests:

Monorail is definitely MUCH FASTER than the Ferry.
Mornings, choose the Monorail, even if you must wait for a "second" train to come.
But, if you can't GET ON the monorail (much too crowded or temporarily out-of-service) then the Ferry is the ONLY way to/from TTC.

Estimated time of TRIP (after boarding):

Express Monorail: 4 minutes (plus a rather short UNLOAD)
Ferry: 12-15 minutes (plus a rather long UNLOAD)

I've ridden the ferry once and it takes awhile to get all the way across the lagoon. I've just taken the monorail every other time as it is much faster and not to mention, much more fun.
