Just curious as to the time it takes to get from Orlando airport to the Polynesian via Magical Express?

Thank you!!:goodvibes

28+ minutes

The Disney World property is about 30 minutes away from the Orlando International Airport. Depending on traffic (and how long it takes for your Magical Express bus to leave) it will be about 45 minutes as a whole. This is approximate and you should add time in case you are trying to get somewhere afterwards :)

28+ minutes . . .

1) This assumes the bus goes directly to your hotel.
2) That DME bus route usually has up to four resort stops.
3) However, based upon the quantity of folks to one hotel, it might make just a single stop.

4) Figure 20-minutes per additional resort stop (drive-to, unload, drive-from).
5) Plus, the Poly is the *usually* the last stop on that route
. . . the bus passes the Poly after going through the MK tollbooths
. . . Wilderness Lodge and/or Fort Wilderness may be the first right-turn stops
. . . the bus then passes the Poly, and hits GF next
. . . buses then exit GF and make a left-turn to go to the Poly
. . . this allows the bus to approach the Poly and make a left-turn into the drive
. . . there is little room for a bus to make a right-turn swing into the driveway

1) With all that information, you never answered the OP's question.
2) According to #4, you're doubling some of the time. If you include the drive to and the drive from a resort, that would negate the drive to the next resort.

For the OP, you're looking at ~90 minutes from when you walk off the plane until your walking in the lobby of your hotel. That could be as low as 70 minutes depending on many factors.

Plan on at least three hours however if you're making any "time sensitive" plans (ADR or FP), which I wouldn't recommend anyway.

This is not helpful!!!
The average, over time, has been determined to be 70 - 90 minutes
Have fun!!!

From he time you get off the plane, to resort lobby, is going to be around 90 mins. It could be as little as 70 mins, but better to plan on at least 90.
The actual ride is about 20 mins, depending on where your resort falls within the route.

Last August, our flight arrived at about 10am (9:50).

Add the few minutes to walk off the plane, a bathroom stop which is usually a line because everyone stops and then waiting for the monorail so I would say a minimum of 15 min there if not a bit more.

We get our luggage which is about 10-15 min. So figure we are at about 10:30-10:45 at this point.

Go to the DME desk and wait in line.

I have a time stamp/text to my sister saying we arrived at the Poly at 12:38. We were in our room at 12:55.

Has something changed? DME policy was to stop at the GF first stop, although posters suggest not all drivers follow that policy. An exception, POLY guests can be dropped off before GF.

90 minutes from landing is a good rule of thumb.

I thought there was a turn to be made, if GF were to be first, that the buses have issues making. I thought that the GF wasn't first for that reason. But, I could be wrong.

That was the reason why drivers could make an exception and drop at POLY first. A PP, I thought a driver, said it was easier to make a right turn into POLY. Rusty offered the opposite information saying a left turn into POLY is easier.

Rusty was incorrect. The GF is always first (being the flagship resort) except when the route also includes the Poly. The Poly has to be first because the turn cannot be made from the other direction.

That's what I thought.

The last time I did this, it took exactly one hour from the time I walked off the plane to the time I walked into my Poly room.

This was absolutely the "best case scenario" though. There was no line for the bus, the bus took off very shortly after I boarded, the Poly was our first stop, and my online check-in room was immediately available. If only it were always this smooth! pixiedust:

I would count on 90 minutes, but allow myself a couple of hours, just in case.

Why get your luggage? They'll deliver it to your room. :goodvibes

We stayed at the GF last October. Our ME bus stopped at WL first, then Contemporary and then GF. So no, the GF isn't always first.

I've had a time of an hour also...but just once!!! If only it were always that nice. Here is a loose breakdown of possible time scenarios...
from gate to tram....5-15 mins
tram to terminal....3 mins

If picking up bags, walk from tram to baggage area...Side A...3-.5 mins, Side B, 4-7 mins.

Okay...here's where it can get murky if picking up bags...Side A has to go back up to level 3 (from level 2 where baggage claim is) cross over to Side B, and down to level 1 where DME is....could take from 8-15 mins. Those arriving on Side B, will get off the tram, and head right to Side B baggage claim....this can take from 2-4 mins.
Waiting for bags can add 15-25 mins.

Okay, you either have bags in hand, or you are allowing DME to transfer them, at this point...
Down to Level 1 for DME...about 2 mins from baggage claim on level 2 Side B. In line to be sorted by resort.....30 secs to 2 mins.
Resort line...1-25 mins (in my experience)
Wait on the bus...1-20 mins
Ride to resort....25-40 mins..depending on which stop you are.

If the stars align perfectly, and you don't have baggage to get, you can make it in an hour. More often, it's closer to 80 mins, and there are times that it can be 90+ mins. Those 90+ waits don't happen all that often though.

So, plan on 90 and you'll be thrilled when it takes only 70!!

The trip from the airport goes by fast ..... So many new things to see and it is fun to make pit stop at other resorts so you get a chance to see new resorts! About 30 mins
