How long does the Princess meal take at Ariel's Grotto?

Please forgive my newbie question.
We're going to be spending 1 day at Disneyland in April with my son (6) and daughter (4). I think my daughter's head will explode with excitement at Ariel's Grotto, but if the meal takes a couple of hours, I don't want to tie my son up at a princess show when he'd rather be doing "boy" stuff.

Could anyone who's gone tell me approximately how long the meal took? I'd like to know if I should make a reservation for 2 people (DD & I) or 4.

It was probably a little longer than an average sit down meal because your distracted and stop eating every princess. I don't think it is anything your son couldn't handle.

Make a reservation. Walk-ups are not available at every seating.

IF I remember correctly, they want you out of there in 90 minutes, so it can be shorter than that. I think we may have taken slightly longer but we were a party of adults and we were right at the end of the princess meal cycle, before they brought in the World of Color people, so I don't think the needed our table.

Thanks so much. I'll talk it over with my husband, but I think we might split the kids up. The boys can go get corndogs and go on a few rides while my daughter and I meet the princesses.

(It also makes more sense to me to allot the $$$ we would have spent on my son's lunch at Ariels' to something he'll enjoy more, like a custom lightsaber )

All character meals have a time limit of 90 minutes. We've never actually used the full 90, EXCEPT at AG. We love the food there and we love seeing the Princesses. I'm sure your DS would love the food too, it's very good. Make a reservation, there are not always walk in seats available, if you think your DS might like it better sit outside.

I think it takes about 1 hour for all the princesses to finish their rounds...
