How long does the BBB "do" last?

Okay...it's almost time for me to make my ADRs. We are going to try BBB for the first time this year (crossing my fingers for BBB then Breakfast at CRT!!!). But I got to thinking...how long does the hairstyle last? We typically swim every afternoon. So experts...does it outlast pool time? I've seen a lot of young princesses who appear to have a TON of product in their hair. Does it turn into a gooey mess is you swim with it? How many shampoos does it take to come out? Please let me know your experiences. Thanks

DD did BBB in Sept. We didn't do swimming but my guess it might not make it through too well. There is the hairpiece (fake hair) that can be removed and the hair is usually pulled back and put into a bun -- with 7 gallons of hairspray and about 520 hair pins. It will likely stay in but will get a bit gooey. Oh, forgot the glitter, oops, fairy dust.

It took quite a washing to get it all out -- but still had remnant fairy dust for several washings after. Just kept coming back I guess.

Depending on how much swim it might last one day thru swim but I can't imagine she'd want to keep it long due to the product making her head itch.

Just my thoughts. Hope it helps.

Best Wishes!

That does help. I don't expect it to last more than 1 day but I would like it to last until the evening...or more importantly, I know that DD will want it to last until the evening. Thanks

Without swimming, it can last 2 days. With swimming...not so much, LOL! However, the chlorine seems to cut thru that gel and hairspray! :thumbsup2

You could go to the barber shop on main street. I've heard they do a less extensive version (read cheaper) and put glitter and confetti in it.

I think most of it depends on your child. My daughter had hers done late morning, we ate lunch at CRT, stayed at MK for the FF Parade, and went back to the condo for a nap. Before nap, she wanted it out.

They pull back the hair REALLY tight, and use literally a half bottle of gel in it, not to mention the loads of hairspray. I honestly think it is enough to clog a pool filter, so I would actually recommend washing it before letting her swim.

You do get a tiara and a sparkly Mickey barrette (at least, my daughter did for the fairy princess style, which is the one without extensions), so you can probably do a decent job at recreating it for her that night or the next day on your own, without the sparkle. (If you really wanted to, you could go buy some glitter at the store and sprinkle it on with some hair spray.)

How old is your daughter? If she is old enough, she could probably make the choice whether to swim or protect the "do." :)

Have fun, I bet she will love it! :cloud9:

It will not outlast swimming. If it gets wet, it's going to be very very gross. They use an amazing amount of gel so water will ruin it for sure.

We went last April and I am still finding glitter stuck to her scalp.... :rotfl: But the nice part of the do lasted 2 days without swimming.

I don't think it would out last swimming either.

My daughter's lasted 2 days. Her hair is super long and thick and her FG had a hard time even getting it up there. On the second day I had to fix it a bit but it still held. That night though it was falling out.

it will not out last swimming...we did bbb at 9am..had 7:20 ressies and 1900 that night..she looked like she had just come out of bbb.the next day it still looked good...it will last two days but dont get it wet

My 5-year-old DD had hers done last June when we went to WDW.....didn't swim after going to the BBB (she wanted it done on our last day there so all of her friends at home could see it) and the hairstyle lasted 5 days! The last 2 days it needed a bit of "help" from me, but not much with all the gel & spray they used. Definitely got our money's worth out of the trip to the BBB. LOL Just FYI, her hair is waist-length, very fine (almost baby-fine) hair, so it is not very heavy, which probably helped it stay up as long as it did. But the gel & spray sure added to that! LOL

our "do" lasted 4 days and I helped it along on the 5th day cuz she adored it! We swam for brief periods every day but were VERY careful. I definately agree that water would ruin (aka goo up,):cheer2: the do. We were careful of even being splashed.

DD 4's hair do lasted 3 days. We were told by our fairy godmother in trainning to swim before showering to undo the hairdo and it worked like a champ. So I would lean to the no swimming until she or mommy are ready for it to come down.

We didn't go swimming but my dd's hair has lasted several days if she can swim w/ out getting it soaked to the point that it would fall you could probably touch it up once it dries if she does the diva or pop princess hairstyle you may be able to redo it on your own.
