Hi every one :wave2: please could some one tell me how long it takes to get to universal studios from one of the disney all star resorts? Also is it better to use mears rather than a taxi! If so anyone know how much it may cost? Sorry for all the questions but my holidays getting close now and I feel like I have so much left to do :scared1:

It doesn't take very long by Taxi, although Mears may do some extra pick-ups at other resorts so that can take time. Mears will be cheaper if there are only two of you (I think it was about $18 each return) but a Taxi is well worth it for the time and ease. Can't remember how much it was now but I think it was around $25 each way with tip. :)

We're staying at Hilton Bonnet Creek which is just next to Disney's Carribean Beach Resort and, from there to Universal, I found it to be approx $40 each way incl tip. That was what farefinder.com quoted it as anyway and the hotel have also quoted it as being around that. Am planning on using Mears as have been told they're much better value. Hope that helps??

tbh it really could be that much now...I last used a taxi about 3 years ago and it prob has shot up in price..I'd still use the taxi though. Its def worth shopping around. We once used a company called SKIPS and they were a about half the price of Mears..not sure if they are still going now though.
You can get there very cheaply using the Lynx bus but its a hell of a journey..

Hi , sorry to butt in but have you stayed at the Hilton before if not when are you going? Just being nosey as we are going in October . What is Mears if you don't mind me asking . Thank you

That's ok. I've not stayed there before but my partner is an international businessman in the oil industry and a friend of his recommended it. Also, I had to contact them with regards my son's Autism as he REALLY can't do showers so I had to make sure they could reserve us a bath/shower combo and they have been REALLY lovely. The front of house supervisor has got friends who are cast members at Disney and they've got an autograph book for him and got loads of the characters to sign it and they got a Mickey plush for my son that they're going to put in the room for his arrival. NOTHING is too much or too little trouble for them. They've sorted transfers for me at a fraction of the price Thomson wanted (I don't drive) and are quite happy to advise on absolutely ANYTHING! :) In fact, I got an email from the lady who has been so great with me (Alyssa Stephan) just to enquire if there's anything else we need as it's only a month away til we travel! Seriously, if they provide the same standard service when we're there, they will be WORLD CLASS in my book! :) Mears is a shuttle service. They do make a few stops to other hotels on the way to Universal but I'm planning to book their shuttle really early to account for this and the inevitable gridlock traffic as Florida residents are on their way to work. That way, will be a fraction of the cost of a regular taxi in rush hour but will still get there close to park opening :)

Google maps says 20 mins but I would double that if trying to get there for park opening as you have to use the I4 which is known for its traffic jams ;)
