How long does it take to get from TTC to Epcot by monorail?

We will be arriving in Orlando around noon on Thursday 12/6, renting a car and driving to the villa we are renting in Windsor Palms. The owner told me we could check in early, so planning to go straight there, leave our stuff and head to Epcot.

I think it might be fun to arrive by monorail, so I'm considering parking at the ticket and transportation center and taking the monorail to Epcot. Just wondering approximately how long that might take. If we arrive at the TTC around 2:45, should we expect to be in Epcot by 3:15?

Good idea? Or would you advise just parking at Epcot? This will most likely be our only chance to take the Monorail, other than possibly using it on our Magic Kingdom day to go from TTC to MK. It's been a long time since we had the chance to take the monorail to Epcot and I remember Epcot looking so pretty from the monorail.

It'a about a 15 minute ride. EPCOT should look beautiful from the monorail this time of year.

Actually, and i’ve timed this several times, the actual ride time is very close to 6 minutes. If you just miss the train you will have a 6 minute wait for the next one.

Its not convenient, but if taking the monorail is important to you, nothing wrong with that! I agree that it will take 15-20 minutes max, even if you have to wait for the next one. So its really only a 20 minute inconvenience, if that.

Our family always enjoyed taking the Monorail to Epcot as it was a ride in itself, just something special about it.

Couple of things that may be worth noting. It’s hard to predict the exact timing because there are a few variables outside of your control... how long you wait for the parking tram at the TTC, how long you wait for the Epcot monorail line, etc. You will be going through a security screening twice - once before entering the TTC and then again at the Epcot entrance (an unfortunate by-product of the location of the Epcot monorail exit ramp).

You could get lucky and breeze through all of those things, or they could all combine to create a longer trip than you expect. I guess point being, stay flexible.

You could always park at Epcot and just ride the Epcot monorail loop for fun before heading back to your car for the day.

Have fun!

I definitely waited close to 15 minutes for a monorail from the TTC to Epcot back in October, and I don’t think I’d just missed it, judging by the number of people already on the platform. I’m not sure what happened, but there are sometimes delays resulting in more than a 6 minute wait. Maybe there was only 1 monorail running on the beam at the time, resulting in a round trip of nearly 15 minutes.

I think the waits can often be contributed to the monorails temporarily breaking down. Over the last 3 trips we experienced making it to our stop without a temporary "holding" about only 50% of the time. Once we got off and waited 15 minutes for someone to call for buses.

Sure it can happen but it’s not typical. To answer the OP I gave the typical time as recorded by my GPS mapping watch. The ride itself is almost exactly 6 minutes and the typical maximum wait is 6 minutes.
