I have read that the Beach Club is great for getting to and from HS and Epcot.
I have also read it takes 20 minutes to get to HS and MK.
So is it really that convenient for getting to HS quickly?
I was thinking about getting us hopper passes but if it takes 20 minutes to get to HS I'm not sure.
I know Epcot is close and an easy walk.

Yes it does only 20 minutes to get to Hollywood studios. Walking about 20-30 minutes, boat from 10-30 minutes depending on when the boat arrives.

When it comes to transportation options at Disney 20 min is easy and convenient.
Walking is faster, even if the boat leaves at the same time you start walking
We tested it last year, DH and DGD started walking the same time the boat I was on pulled away from the HS dock.
They were walking in our room at the same time my boat was pulling in to the dock.

Does it seem like a long walk ?

We usually stay at the Swan, and we walk to EPCOT, HS, and through EPCOT to the monorail for MK. Anything to avoid waiting for the buses! Our last trip, though, when we DID have to take the bus, we would hop on the first EPCOT resort bus that pulled in, and walked from there to our hotel. We park hop between EPCOT and HS the entire time we are there, sometimes more than one time each day for fireworks (Star Wars show is awesome!), food, or just cause. Get a park hopper, a comfy pair of shoes, and have a great time!

Honestly, it's not the most wonderful walk. You go along the waterway and under the street. It's pretty, don't get me wrong. Usually bits of wildlife around like ducks, birds, lizards and we even say an Armadillo last month.
But the way it winds along it seems longer than it is. I think it's because you can't see your destination because it's around a couple bends. You've walked quite a while before you turn the corner and can see the park, and then it's sort of a ways off. Though once you see HS you are about up to where buses drop off. It's just that you've already walked a while.
Still, even me the overweight and super slow walker, doesn't mind it. I'd rather be walking than standing and waiting on a boat.

I left BW at the same time the boat headed to YC/BC....I didn't see the boat again until I was headed for bag check at DHS....the boat was just coming around the corner! I do the walk in about 15 mins, at a decent pace. The boat will take about 20 mins from YC/BC..once it leaves the dock. You could get right on a boat, or you could wait for up to 20 mins. So, I would add about 5 mins to the walking time from the YC/BC...it might be a wash if the boat is right there.
YC/BC have decent bus service to both MK and AK. All resorts have less than stellar service to Disney Springs.
It all depends on what parks you are going to spend more time at. With the Epcot resorts, it's nice to be able to walk to two parks!!!!

It takes us about 25 minutes to walk from HS to BC and another 5 to walk to Epcot. I am always surprised when I hear people say it takes 5 or 10 minutes. Maybe if you are REALLY hungry and running very fast-lol.

Here is the actual mileage.

Swan and Dolphin Resort to DHS entrance
18 mins - 0.83 miles

Swan and Dolphin Resort to Yacht and Beach Club Resort lighthouse area
7 mins - 0.28 miles

Swan and Dolphin Resort to Epcot International Gateway (via Yacht and Beach club)
12.5 mins - 0.52 miles

Swan and Dolphin Resort to Epcot International Gateway (via the Boardwalk)
11.5 mins - 0.49 miles

Yacht and Beach Club Resort to Epcot International Gateway
5.5 mins - 0.24 miles

There are many factors that can delay the boats so their travel time can vary a lot.

Very interesting! The walk from Yacht/Beach seems like a bit more than that, but we walk so much at WDW at a certain point every foot step seems like a mile;)

Is it an easy walk? I think the answer depends on the heat, the humidity, and whether you're starting your day, or you've already put in your 10 miles for the day.

Yes the weather will play a part on if we will be walking and if we have walked all day or have sore feet. The boat is sounding like a better idea already lol.

I just did this on Sunday- walked from HS to BC. It took me slightly over 20 minutes, walking fairly briskly, but I stopped more than a few times to take a quick picture.

There were just a handful of people waiting at the boat dock, so I figured a boat had just left. I saw a boat heading to the HS dock when I was about 1/3 of the way into my walk, and that boat never did catch up to me.

I have done the walk twice in the evening in the summer and now once in January when it was cooler. It is definitely an easier walk in the winter months.

I also took the boat from EPCOT to HS that afternoon, but silly me, I forgot to time the ride. I may be able to figure it out approximately from time stamps on my photos.

::yes::

We have a B&C dinner reservation on our DHS day, and DH was just asking this weekend if we planned to take the boat or walk. We don't mind walking and dislike waiting, so I said we'd probably walk. He asked if it was a super long walk. I said that, no matter what, it will seem short to me because the last time I walked between HS and BC/YC was at about mile 24 of the 2010 Disney Marathon. :D

Truly, though, it's not a terrible walk if you're the type of person who would rather walk than wait for a boat.

We walked it in 15 min. at a normal pace. So way faster than most forms of Disney transportation. It was a pleasant walk in the morning. The walk back, however, at 3:00 pm in July was not so pleasant! We will take the boat next time if it's in the middle of the day.

Walk to Epcot was 5 min. at the most.

I will remember that about the heat in the afternoon.
