How long does it take to get a rebate?

Just curious, I've never applied for a rebate before!

I sent in my stuff for a rebate for Turbo Tax (free State when you buy Turbo Deluxe for Fed and $10 off the Deluxe) about two weeks ago. I'm having them direct deposit the money rather than send a check. How long do these things usually take?

I did a Turbotax rebate for the electronic filing and I think it only took about 3-4 weeks total until it was in my bank account

Did you get the e-mail yet to give them your banking info? I got the e-mails requesting my bank account info on Jan 5th, and my rebates were in my account on 1/11. I am not sure when I sent them in, but I purchased the software on 12/22, so it wasn't a very long process.

Earlier this week I got the emails to submit my bank account info for direct deposit after submitting my rebates a couple weeks ago and I had my rebates directly deposit a coupel days later. You can check the status of your rebates at www.intuitrebates.com .

It has been alleged that some of the larger rebates (such as $100. on the purchase of a television or computer) are never sent out to you unless you make one or more follow up inquiries. It is as if the company wants you to forget about the rebate.

I have done several large rebates when buying computers and so far have never had to inquire to actually get them. My worst experience was trying to get a rebate out of Cingular when I purchased a new phone. Luckily, I always copy everything before I submit so I had proof I sent everything they required.

I had numerous problem with rebates from Best Buy, Symantec and Samsung. All of them were for substantial rebates ($120, $65, $75). Like poohj80, I photocopy everything before the rebate request gets sent out. I also make note of the date that it was mailed.

In the past month, I've had to make several calls to find out where my long-overdue rebate checks are. A couple of times, I had to fax the original forms to the rebate companies. I am just beginning to see rebates for items I purchased around Thanksgiving! Arrrrgh!

Some of the quicker rebates were from CompUSA, Linksys and Andes Mints. Unfortunately, they were all for $10 or less.
