How long does it take them to fill waitlist?

I placed a couple waitlists last month right at the 11 month mark to try to pick up reservations as walkers moved along. I figured they would be matched pretty quickly but a month later, my waitlists were still showing up on my dashboard.

I called last week to have MS help me with some other waitlist issues on my other membership and she told me both of my waitlists on my other membership had been matched but not filled. I’m curious now about how timely waitlist matches are filled as it seems strange that both of those waitlists I had placed a month earlier would have just happened to fill on the day I called. It makes me question if I need to start calling in every so often to check on waitlist matches when I’m needing to have my plans solidified as I need to figure out how many points I need to borrow for future reservations.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

I will follow along since I had no idea you can match but not fulfill.

My experience is that you need to be proactive yourself to ensure that the waitlists are filled. You of course don’t know when they match but I’d follow up regularly maybe everyday or every other day. I always use chat.

Matching is an automated process and no one knows how frequently it's run. Converting the match to an actual confirmed reservation is done manually by a CM.

Maybe member services is understaffed. I called 1.5 weeks ago to have 2 single night reservations merged. Still hasn’t been done, even though the CM said it should only take a couple days.

Once matched, it typically takes a CM a few days to a week to process, although when I have called and chatted and there was a match, the CM did it for me.

However, there have been plenty of times when I chatted to check and nothing was matched yet so I do think it’s random when you call and they see it vs not.

Just today I had 2 WLs filled. One I found out about when I chatted with MS because I had a question about it and she told me it had been matched. So once she filled it I filled out another WL for the night before. I was on the website this afternoon and saw the reservation had changed and the WL gone. Both these WL were for reservations in less than 5 weeks for BWV!!! I was so happy they filled quickly. I had given up hope in finding a room there

It used to be that when the waitlist had matched, it would disappear from the dashboard but the reservation wouldn't pop up until the CM did their magic. I guess not anymore?

Yeah but that changed a few years back.

I just recently spoke to a CM during some complex reservation help I needed and a waitlist was involved and I asked her how often the system scans for waitlists and she said every couple of minutes...without any real hesitation. I'm not sure I believe it because we've all found rooms by stalking that we had on waitlist...does that mean we've always been lucky enough to pop in within the "few minutes" timeframe? I don't know. But take that data point as you will.

For merges, I always email now.

If you cancel a waitlist, like all hope is lost, I go back and check the availability one more time because I believe it might pop up if it was matched.

This has happened to me several timeswhen I got my second choice and canceled the waitlist….my room was there.

I wonder that as well as I have found some pretty high demand rooms by stalking. Recently found a BC studio for 2 nights over MLK. I know Stormalong Bay will be closed so lower demand but seriously doubt no one had that waitlisted with it being FARTS opening weekend.
