Hi. We are using the magic express. How long does it typically take to get from the airport to your resort? What have you experienced? Also, when you get to your resort and it is a few hours before check-in did you have to wait or was your room ready? Thank you

I always budget (because I am an eternal pessimist with travel) approximately two hours from wheels down to leaving the DME bus at my resort. It is generally shorter and averages about 80 - 100 minutes from wheels down to departure but, if I am planning anything (ADR or otherwise) in advance, I assume we will not get to the resort until 2 hours after landing.

It is just no fun to stress and I don't like to cut things short. If I plan on lots of time, I am rarely disappointed with the time it might take. We remind ourselves we are saving over $100 by using DME vs a towncar or rental.

As for the wait time after check in, it has varied from ready at 10 AM to not being available until 4 PM. Again, plan on it NOT being available until 3 or 4 and then be pleasantly surprised if it is ready.

You can always store your luggage with a bellperson and go enjoy a park, eat, shop, swim, etc. before your room is ready.

Have a great trip and if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

It took us less than an hour from airplane touchdown to unloading at the POP Century. There were only five people on the bus! The two of us and a single mother with two children. It may have just been timing.

Hi Bell,

Absolutely right! It can depend on time of day, which resort you are staying at, whether you just missed the bus in front, etc.

My advice would definitely be to assume 2 hours but be very, very happy if it is shorter!

We've come into MCO at all times of the day and night. Usually from the time we de-plane, get our bags, and find our towncar driver, that usually takes about 30 minutes. Then the drive to BWV is another 30 minutes. So an hour total usually.

It usually takes us about an hour also, but we usually get there around 10:00. I don't know about later in the day.

Usually it takes us approx. 1/2 an hour once the bus loads. The whole procedure of getting in line and waiting to start takes about 1 hours total. I really love this service and it's fast and totally worth it.

Depends on time of day, time of year, and hotel you are staying at. Plan on at least 2 hours and be happy if it's less! On our best ME experience from plane touching down to me being actually IN MK having lunch... 1 1/2 hours!!!

We've gone twice with DME, and it has taken about an hour and a half each time.

I don't remember waiting in a line (at all) the first time. The second time, I was about to pass out (had a 105F fever, snots dripping all over and nothing to blow my nose on - and I was pushing someone in a wheelchair - I was a mess!) I waited about 30 minutes in line, then about an hour on the bus to get to the resort. At least the movie makes the drive seem shorter!

I don't include the time it takes to ge to the DME line because the times we've travelled DME, we've had two disabled persons in our party. So we have to wait for the airline to send two wheelchairs to the plane. So we don't leave the plane until everyone else has.

We've used DME twice now:

1st) Arrived early afternoon on a Monday in mid October. We literly were like the only people there! We stood in no line to check in and was pointed to our waiting bus. We were at the Floridian within 1 hr of plane touching down.

2nd) Arrived noon on a Sunday in early December. We stood in line to "check-in" for DME at least 45 minutes. Then we waited in line for our bus another 45 minutes. We arrived at the Floridian within 3 hours after touching down.:worried:

So I guess our average would be 2 hours!

I would say when using the Mag Ex it takes a good hour. As far as checking in at the hotel it's a hit or miss if your room will be ready or not.
